Anita Grasso Obituary

Rancho Viejo, TX - With deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived and filled with love, we announce the passing of Anita Louise Monet Grasso, 84, who departed peacefully on February 26, 2026.

Born on February 16, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul Slater Monet and Helen Gruba Monet, Anita was proud of her Chicago roots. She remained a devoted Chicagoan until the spring of 1971, when she moved to Brownsville, Texas, with her husband and three children, beginning a new chapter that would become the heart of her family's story.

In her early years, Anita worked in modeling and catering, pursuits that reflected her natural elegance and eye for beauty. Throughout her life, she devoted herself generously to her community, volunteering with hospitals, schools, Glady's Porter Zoo and numerous charitable organizations. Her quiet service touched countless lives.

Above all, Anita - lovingly known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Meme" - was the consummate hostess. She welcomed friends and family to her table with warmth, grace, and extraordinary attention to detail. Every gathering bore her signature - thoughtfully planned menus, beautifully prepared meals, and an ambiance of refinement and comfort that only she could create. Her home was a place of celebration, laughter, and belonging.

Anita is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard Daniel Grasso; her children, Donna Marie Barron (Eric Ramiro Barron), Debra Lynn Giorgini (Frank Steven Giorgini), and Michael Paul Grasso (Elizabeth Mathews Grasso); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother Richard Raoul Monet. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the traditions she lovingly built.

The family will hold a private service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Anita's memory to St. Joseph Academy https://www.sja.us/support-sja/memory in Brownsville, Texas, or the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate https://shsp.org/donate in San Antonio, Texas.
