Darlene Perez Obituary
She accomplished many academic successes throughout the years which included a Bachelor's degree in Education, a Master's in Administration and numerous other certificates. She also attended Harvard Divinity School where she studied to become a pastor. Darlene dedicated her life to education, impacting many lives, first as a school teacher and later a principal. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Darlene was married 41 years to her best friend, Jose Angel Perez.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Susie Harrison; daughter, Susan Marie Perez; two brothers and two sisters.
Left behind to cherish her memory are are her loving husband, Jose Angel Perez; daughters, Kimberly (Jerod) Thomas and Angela Perez; five grandchildren, Julia Thomas, Melanee Thomas, Alyssa Saldivar, Lindol Thomas and Nyla Jo Thomas; sister, Joyce (Larry) Taylor and her niece (who was like a daughter) Debra (Roy) Salazar.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Duddlesten Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m. until time of prayer service at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Harlingen, Texas with Mel Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford, Texas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be David Perez, Hector Eloy Perez, Jerry Perez, Peter Perez, Feliciano Perez, Jr., and Eliseo Castillo.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 2001 N. Seventh Street, Harlingen, Texas 78550.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, Texas.

My deepest condolences to the entire family,. Mrs. Perez was a beautiful soul, I had the opportunity to have Mr. Perez as my teacher in elementary, then I had the opportunity to have her as my principal when I was employed in Lyford and as my Pastor when I attended The Lyford Wesylian Church. Every time she would see me around town, she would hug me and strike up a conversation with me, eventhough we hadn't seen each other in years, she would say hello!Martina how are you? I will greatly miss you and your beautiful advice and concern you always showed me..God bless the entire family....
