Donald Schuckenbrock Obituary

Austin - Donald Daniel (Dan) Schuckenbrock was born in La Sara, Texas on September 23, 1938 and died in Austin, Texas on January 12, 2021. He lived 82 years in this beautiful world, and was beloved by all who had the privilege of meeting and working with him.

Dan grew up in Raymondville, Texas, later attending the Catholic seminary of San Antonio, Texas. Upon completion of his seminary studies, Dan professed his religious vows, joined the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, was ordained, and served as a Catholic Oblate Priest for 23 years.

His assignments as a Catholic Priest led him through the Rio Grande Valley, & Midland, Texas and later to Metairie, Louisiana. As a Catholic priest, Dan was able to serve & help many people and was truly loved. After completing 23 years as a Catholic priest Dan resigned from active ministry and moved to Austin, Texas.

In Austin, Dan worked as Probation Officer with Travis County, helping rehabilitate individuals that were in the criminal justice system.

While living in Austin, Dan started his second vocation as a loving Husband. He met and married the love of his life, Audrey Lentz. Dan and Audrey traveled extensively, sharing countless wonderful adventures together. To Dan, family was the central meaning of life. Though marrying "later in life," Dan and Audrey were blessed with 25 years of marriage together!

Dan was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting of all kinds including dove, deer, turkey and "just plain hunting and fishing"--especially with family. There were annual dove hunting trips with his nephews & the three-week motorcycle trips with his older brother along with the numerous "any other trips that would just come along." While fishing with family, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his sister's marriage, Dan was blessed to catch a King Salmon that broke fishing records in Telegraph Cove, British Columbia.

Dan was a gentle, kind soul that cared dearly about (& for) everyone he met, always having a smile and a kind word. One of his favorite sayings was "Thank you, baby Jesus."

Dan lived a full and blessed life and will be sorely missed by his many family members and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony F. and Marie (Winkler) Schuckenbrock, his brothers Jimmy Schuckenbrock (Helen), Father Harry Schuckenbrock and sister Caroline Macmanus.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years (Audrey Lentz) and his three sisters; Isabelle Albers, Rosie Garrison, Rita Dunlap and brother's in law Jim Dunlap & Jerry Macmanus. He is also survived by hoards of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, as well as his wife's (Audrey) many Sisters, brother's in Law, children and grandchildren.

All will miss him dearly.

A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Oblate School of Theology, 285 Oblate Dr., San Antonio, Texas. Dan will be cremated and a service and burial will take place in Raymondville, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider offering The Holy Mass for the repose of his soul or make a donation to the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate located in San Antonio, Texas, in honor of Donald Daniel (Dan) Schuckenbrock.

May he rest forever in The peace Of Christ.
