Gabriel S. "Oso" Ovalle

Harlingen, TX - Job 1:21

"The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord". Blessed Father God, all Praise, Glory and Honor be Yours now and forever.

Born and raised in Santa Rosa, Texas to Angel and Genoveva Ovalle in 1945, he lived a long and blessed life. He was known to all his family and friends as "Bear" & "Oso"

Working as a migrant he met the love of his life in Driver, Arkansas in 1981 and had been inseparable ever since.

Becoming an Electrician and A/C Technician by trade, he lived in Austin for several years before returning home and began working with the Santa Rosa ISD School District until he retired. His knowledge of sports teams and players stats was impressive to hear. He loved his past times, watching Texas Rangers baseball, listening to his Tejano music, BBQing for his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Angel and Genoveva Ovalle, sister Juana (Geronimo) Juarez, brother Francisco "Crunch" Ovalle, uncles Antonio Oballe, Lorenzo Ovalle Sr., aunts Bernarda Ovalle and Susana Luna, and son, Miguel Cardenas Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife Maria, of 41 years who lovingly nicknamed him "Chico", and his children Bernie Gonzales (Jesse), Mary (Orlando) Castaneda, Rene (Martha) Cardenas, Raul Cardenas, and Felipe (Tommie) Cardenas, who knew him as "Jefe" or "Pops". He had 19 grandchildren, 31great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.

Living siblings include Jose (Linda) Ovalle, Isidro "Chirro" (Felipa) Ovalle, Tere (Nacho) Garcia, Teodora (Jose) Sanchez, Evangelina "Geli" (Larry) Trevino and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Trinity Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Orlando Castaneda, Felipe Cardenas, Rene Cardenas, Raul Cardenas, and Erasmo Velasquez.
