Maria Idalia Rodriguez

1942 - 2018

San Benito - Maria Idalia Rodriguez, age 75, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was born in San Benito, Texas on September 30, 1942, to Eliseo and Virginia Gonzales.

Maria Idalia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Juan Hernan Rodriguez. Also surviving are her six children, Cynthia Ann Rodriguez, Nelda Lea Rodriguez, Juan Hernan Rodriguez (Christy), Linda Nora Martinez (Adrian), Jaime Rene Rodriguez, and Sandra Marie Castillo (Raul). She is survived by her fourteen grandchildren, Lino Daniel Gonzales, Matthew and Abigail Cortez, Meagan Rodriguez, Kristen and John Rodriguez, Adrian, Sabrina, Sophia and Aaron Martinez, Alessandra, Carlos, Raul and Aryanna Castillo as well as her great-grandchildren, Kaylin, John Daniel, Luke, and Isabella Gonzales and Audrina Martinez, and one great-great granddaughter, Ava Macias. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Celia G. Trevino (+Alfredo), Elma G. Barrera (Clemente), Noe Gonzales (Louisa), Arnulfo Gonzales (Elena), and Irma G. Gonzales (Obed) as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Maria Idalia was preceded in death by her parents, Eliseo and Virginia Gonzales and brother, Marcelo Gonzalez.

Maria Idalia graduated from San Benito High School in 1962 and attended Texas Southmost College. She was employed in the private sector for a few years and retired from Social Security Administration after 35 years of employment.

Maria Idalia will forever be remembered as a person with faith, strength, hope, joy, laughter, tears, and above all - love. She often spoke of the importance of being humble and kind to others. Family was everything to her. She enjoyed spending quality time and traveling with them.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 19th at San Benito Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Rodriguez Family Cemetery.
