My deepest sympathy to his wife and children. I had the pleasure of working with Merced, he was a beautiful humble man with a positive disposition. May he now Rest In Eternal Peace. I remember him walking and smiling in the old USCIS hallways wearing his cowboy hat.

When I came to the Rio Grande Valley as an immigration officer in the early 1980s Merced was one of the first people that I met on the job. He was a happy man with a bubbly personality and always had a smile on his face. As I got to know him better I realized he was a man who loved his family and was proud of his children. He leaves behind a legacy of love, smiles, and energy; something, I and his family will never forget. To his family I put my prayers to God that they will be carried through this bittersweet time of knowing that their loved ones in heaven, yet they miss him dearly here on earth. God bless each and everyone of you and thank you for the memories that Merced has given me.
