Rogelio O. "Roy" Sanchez

1934 - 2022

Harlingen, TX. - Rogelio "Roy" O. Sanchez was born on March 22, 1934 and died on April 10, 2022. He was the first-born son of Rafael and Hortencia (Gonzalez) Sanchez. He married Elisa Salazar and they had three children, Rogelio Jr. (Diana), Sylvia Cranfill (Michael), and Robert "Bobby" Sanchez. He is survived by his children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and one sister. He is preceded in death by his wife, two brothers one sister, and one daughter-in-law.

With only an 11th grade education, Roy became a successful businessman. His success was driven by his hard work, high ethical standards, and unending dedication. He started his career as a delivery driver for the Napa Auto Parts store in McAllen. He worked his way up to store manager and 25 years later he opened his own Napa Auto Parts store in Harlingen.

The story of Roy cannot be completely told without including his wife. They were genuine soul mates that rarely left each other's side. Early in their marriage they loved dancing and later became avid bowlers. After 20 years of store ownership, they retired and began enjoying camping with their kids and grandkids. When Elisa developed dementia, Roy cared for her in their home with much patience and tender love.

Roy was an excellent storyteller and his face beamed whenever he was making people laugh. He will be gravely missed but his stories will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

A memorial service will be held on Friday April 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria Texas 78559.
