Sandra Stubblefield Obituary

Georgetown - Sandra Lee Stubblefield closed her eyes for the last time on earth and opened her new eyes in heaven on Sunday, June 18, 2023. After a 19 month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer, her earthly body declined and Sandie entered the arms of her Savior. We take comfort in knowing she is now with Jesus, her health fully restored; yet, we are left behind with a deep hole in our hearts as we miss our mom, grandma and wife.

Sandie was born Sandra Lee Sowle on December 13, 1945 to Mary Belle and Charles Sowle in Indianapolis, IN. Growing up as an army brat, Sandie's family moved often; even 2 years in Germany. Sandie graduated from MacArthur High School, San Antonio in 1963.

She met Sam Stubblefield while attending Southwest Texas State University. The two were married at St. Andrews Methodist Church in San Antonio on February 14, 1965.

Together Sam and Sandie made their home atop the Security Finance building in downtown San Antonio while Sandie worked at Paul Anderson Co. and Sam completed his studies at SWT. They began their family in San Antonio with the birth of their daughter, Debra Kay. The family then moved to the Rio Grande Valley and their family grew with the birth of another daughter, Donna Kay and then son, William Ray, making their family complete. Raising their children in Harlingen, Sandie worked diligently with the PTA serving on the local and state level. She also was a lifelong member of a social and service sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. Sandie enjoyed ladies Bible classes and being an active member at the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ. She was a secret giver, often identifying families in need and delivering Christmas gifts and goodies for needy families in the community. Sandie and Sam lived in Harlingen for 36 years, until they relocated to the Texas Hill Country in 2004. After a number of years in the country, Sandie and Sam moved to Georgetown to the Sun City community. She loved the community and enjoyed participating in the COPS program.(Citizens on Patrol Crime Watch). She loved a good book and was an avid reader. Her family was her passion - she would travel anywhere they were to help when babies were born, to assist when surgeries were at hand, or to help when any need arose. It didn't matter how far away her children were; when they needed mom, she was there. Sandie and Sam enjoyed RVing for several years. Their favorite destination was Lake Superior.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sam Stubblefield; daughter Debra Kay Jones of Georgetown; grandson Hayden Jones (wife Katelyn Jones) of Wichita Falls; daughter Donna Kay Carbo and son-in-law Bob Carbo of Southlake; grandchildren David Carbo (wife Hannah Carbo), Elaina Carbo, Emily Carbo, Elise Carbo, Ella Carbo, Will Carbo, and Blake Carbo; son William Stubblefield and daughter-in-law RoseAnn Stubblefield of Fort Worth; grandchildren Tobin Stubblefield, Caleb Stubblefield and Graci Stubblefield; brother Larry Sowle of San Antonio.

Sandie was preceded in death by Mary Belle Gentry (mother); Chuck Sowle (father); and son-in-law, Glenn Jones.

The funeral service for Sandie will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX 78633 on Saturday, June 24th at 10am. A graveside burial will take place Saturday, June 24 at the Goldthwaite City Cemetery at 3pm.

So sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working with Sandy on PTA business for several years. We advocated for our children locally and attended State PTA Conventions. We also had car and house insurance with Sam. May she Rest In Peace. Condolences to the family.
