John Sherron Obituary

John P Sherron, of Venice, Florida, Ocean City, New Jersey, formerly of Yardley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, after a short illness.

Devoted husband for 43 years of Sally (nee Danch) beloved father of Lynne Sherron, Carol Vernon, John P "Jay" (Nancy) Sherron III, and Todd Haring. Adoring grandfather of Blake (Kristina) Vernon, Parker Vernon, John P IV, and Luke Sherron. Brother of George (Ivy) Sherron.

He will be remembered with love and missed by his brother-in-law, Jonathan, sisters-in-law Jill and Bonnie, and many nieces and nephews, and special friends DeeDee Apalategui and Jim Vernon.

John and Sally met on a blind date arranged by two nieces. The story is that John fell in love on that first date, but it took Sally until their second date. They married in 1981 and moved to Yardley, PA, where they enjoyed raising their blended family and making lifelong friendships.

Later in life John and Sally escaped the cold and headed to Venice, FL. To avoid the heat, summers were spent in Ocean City, NJ. John enjoyed getting out on his bicycle daily. "The Mayor" (as Sally called him) would pass by the bay and cycle 40+ blocks to meet friends at the library in Ocean City. In Venice, he greeted everyone as he ventured alongside roads in their community and neighboring communities.

His passions were his country and watching and talking sports. He was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He was happiest when surrounded by family. John and Sally enjoyed traveling to visit their families in California, Texas, and South Carolina, or hosting them and many others at their home.

John is remembered as a generous and kind husband, father, PopPop, uncle, and friend. He was always ready to lend a hand, carry something, drive anywhere, mix a drink, or man the grill. John enjoyed a quiet conversation in a noisy room, asked questions, and was interested in what was going on in your world. He always had a ready smile and a genuine laugh.

Interment of ashes will be in the Memorial Garden of the Venice Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 16, at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in John's name can be made for the Memorial Garden at Venice Presbyterian Church (incl garden in memo field) 825 The Rialto, Venice FL 34285 or the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City NJ, 08226 Attn: Becky Green.
