Robert J. Levy, or Dad, arrived at the golden golf course in Heaven on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Perhaps his greatest life accomplishment occurred in 1946 when he married Eloise Edna Gemmer. For 63 years they were the model of a successful marriage that transcended and evolved through all of life's challenges. He was a good man, and that's what he aimed for above all else. There are long lives and then there are lives well lived. Bob Levy managed to have both.
After graduating from Parker HS in Dayton, Ohio, he worked at Delco for several years, where he met the love of his life. He joined the Army during WWII and spent several years in Germany. When he returned he began his career at NCR and married Eloise on July 27, 1946.
He became a charter member of NCR Country Club where he played golf every day after work and every weekend. Dad retired from NCR when he was 56 so that he could play golf every day. When he was 90, while playing golf in California with his nephew, he had another hole-in-one. To say he was a good golfer is an understatement!
He became a snowbird after his daughter, Joyce, moved to Venice, Florida in 2018. He became a full-time Florida resident in 2021 and celebrated his 100th, 101st & 102nd birthdays there in the Florida sunshine.
No longer playing golf, he continued his walking regimen while meeting so many lovely people along the way in the subdivision. Everybody here just adores Dad!
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise; his sister, Elaine Uruski of San Jose, CA; his parents, 'Bud' and Fern Levy; and his son-in-law, Keith Jordan, of Indianapolis.
He leaves behind two daughters, Joyce Levy Jordan, and Janice Levy, 3 grandchildren - Alexandra Jordan-Rothwell (Roger), Ventura, CA; Kyle Jordan (Lisa), Sherman Oaks, CA; Melanie Levy, Dayton, OH. 3 great-grandchildren Sullivan James Rothwell, Kian Edward Rothwell, and Bridget Lea Rothwell; Carter Fine, and Logan Kraus both of Dayton, OH. Niece Lisa Gwillim (Reese), Boulder Creek, CA; nephew John Uruski (Michelle), and 2 great nephews Taylor and Ryan Uruski, Yucaipa, CA.
There will be a small Celebration of Life in the spring in Venice, FL.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roberts's name to Tidewell Foundation: 3550 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239.
