Mrs. Bernice Johnson Walker of Lancaster went home to glory on Sept. 6, 2006, in peace and blissful joy to embrace her Heavenly Father King Jesus.
She was born in Scotts, Miss., on July 29, 1932, and lived in Ventura County 38 years.
Bernice had a passion for working for the Lord with her cooking, singing and missions work. Bernice was full of life, nurturing her family, friends and playing with grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband of 27 years, James; sons Felton Johnson, Frank Ricky Richardson and Wade Johnson; daughter, Betty Ree Nelson Peel (husband Calvin), Bernice Toochie Nelson Stinson (husband Anthony), two daughters-in-law, Anita and Joyce Johnson; and nine grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 249 S. Roosevelt Ave., Oxnard. The burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo.
Assisting the family with arrangements is Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012; phone, 1-805-482-1959.

There never day or night goes by with out thinking about you grand ma Bernice and Gran pa James uncle wade lol my big brother i look to you as a mother figure, Grand pa James as a father figure to me. I will always remember what you and grand pa James taught me every thing i need to know in and to always put God first in my life as well, that hard work pays off at the end. I should give God the glory and honor every time thank you Grand / mama for showing, being there for me throw the years you and grand pa oh grand ma thank you for bringing uncle wade to this world for to be around that i look up to as my big brother and best friend. I will always love you grand /mama Bernice Johnson Walker. Love your third grand child that you had raised me to be who i'am today Tomikco Victoria Katherine Nelson mauh. we will meet again big mama some day Amen.

Aunt Bernice,
Thank you for all the wonderful years and memories. You will truly be missed in the physical but I know the Lord has welcomed you home graciously. I will love you for life and look forward to seeing you one day on the other side.
