Carol Ann Gonzales

Ventura - Carol Ann Gonzales, 71, of Ventura went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carol was a much beloved mother, wife, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend to many.

She was born on June 18, 1949 in Los Angeles to Dr. Harold and Betty Totten. She met her future husband, Gabriel Gonzales, while they were both juniors at Morningside High School in Inglewood, California, and they married in their junior year at UCLA on December 27, 1969. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in English, she when on to get her Master's Degree of Library Science at Cal State Fullerton. She then went to work for Anaheim Public Library as a reference librarian. In the summer of 1980, she, her husband, and her newly born 1st son, moved to Ventura. She continued to work as an extra help reference librarian during evenings and weekends at Foster Library for many years. After both her sons were at school fulltime, she worked for Ventura Unified School at various jobs, the last one being as a library tech at Ventura High School.

Carol loved to travel, read novels, and take aerobic classes. She had a heart for helping people in need, studying the Bible with her ladies' classes, and participating in church activities. She and her husband together taught Sunday school classes at the churches they attended. But she especially liked to just spend time with family and friends.

Carol is survived and will be missed by her husband, Gabriel Gonzales, son Daniel Gonzales, son Mark Gonzales and his wife Saki, brother-in-law David Gonzales, sister-in-law Rebecca LaDuca, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Carol loved life, but now we know that she even more alive, joyful, and at peace with our heavenly Father. We would like to thank the many kind hospice workers from Livingston Memorial. We encourage people to donate to the Alzheimer's Association. An outdoor memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 2:00PM at Orchard Community Church in Ventura.
