So many memories, so many laughs. We all have our special look-back thoughts of this great man who touched our lives. Many of us still laugh about Christmas and the 'Dr. Cecil B DeDart' tee shirts. Rest in peace dear friend. You are missed.

To Dr Dart's family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father and grandfather. As an employee of old St. John's, I knew Dr. Dart in the 1970's and, again, in the 1980's as an employee of his medical office. While countless memorable events come to mind from those times, many years later, what is, truly, most unforgettable is the manner in which Dr. Dart exemplified quiet compassion as a gracious, thoughtful man, in addition to his being a groundbreaking cardiovascular surgeon. With sincere sympathies to his family.

The world has lost a great person and great surgeon. I worked at St. John's Hospital for many years on the Telemetry Floor, and enjoyed his frequent visits. I will always remember in the early a.m., we all would have a cup of coffee, and he would bring in his soda!!! God rest his soul...Sue Zacher R.N.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Dart. I went to work for him in 1989. I was a single Mom of 3 and had never worked in a Dr.'s office before. I started out filling but soon became the surgery scheduler. I knew nothing but with the help of all 3 of the Dr.'s I went on to do it for almost 20 years and made life long friends. I thought the world of him. He was kind, patient and had a great sense of humor. I remember sitting at my desk one day and hearing strange noises, we didn't have any patients that day and the Dr.'s were doing paper work. I asked my colleague "what is that?" She said on that's Dr. Dart and Dr. Declusin talking to each other with their duck calls. It was so funny these 2 highly educated men quacking to each other, each in their own offices right next to one another. He loved going duck hunting with Dr. Declusin. I went to his home for a party and he and his family couldn't of been nicer. You made a difference in so many people's lives and at one time if you lived in Ventura County and had open heart surgery Dr. Dart did it. He was well respected and was truly a gifted surgeon. Thank you for making such a difference in so many people's lives.

Dr. Dart was a fantastic and gifted surgeon. He was the first in Ventura County to do heart caths and Open heart surgery (starting both programs at St. John's). I was lucky enough to be in from the beginning and am proud to have called him a friend. He knew my strengths and weaknesses and helped me through both and taught me so much more than I could've ever learned in a classroom. He had the best sense of humor and used it on me many times, but I loved him for it. He has always been a hard act to follow but he left a legacy of perfection that we all strive to keep going. Thank you for being my friend and becoming part of my family.

There are people in one's life, who are remembered forever. Charles Dart was that person for me. Still remember the moment I met him together with Cathy in a lobby of hospital I trained in Charlotte. His reception of my family was exceptional and introduction to a new community classy and memorable. His mentorship and guidance in the beginning of my career helped us establish in a new environment.
We were so lucky to have Him on our retirement party before leaving the area and being able to express our appreciation.
Reqiuescat in pace, Charles.

Dr. Dart was a gifted surgeon and a charming gentleman. He was truly the leader in cardiac surgery in Ventura County and he saved many lives. I have always enjoyed his sense of humor and admired his passion for his work. I hope he is now swapping stories with Drs. DiBernardo and Liguori, cardiologists who worked closely with him, regarding old times at St. John's.
