Dominga J. Enriquez, known as "Nanay Nene" to all who knew her, joined the Lord a little after the sunrise on March 22, 2009, at the age of 82. Nanay Nene was born in 1926, in Cavite, Philippines. In 1947, She married Quirino S. Enriquez. In 1992, they both settled in Oxnard, Calif., and she has been a resident of Oxnard since.
Nanay Nene had a lively spirit and a ready smile for those she met. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with the Lord. She doted on her family and never tired of showing her love. If there is only one impression that Nanay Nene has left on all the lives she touched, it is that she lived with a willingness to serve, with a big heart full of love and an inner strength unmatchable by most. Nanay Nene embodied her name - "Nanay" is "mother" in Tagalog - and that's who she was, to the very end: an exceptional mother.
Preceded by her husband, Nanay Nene is survived by one (1) sister, eight (8) children, fifteen (15) grandchildren, and six (6) great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2009, at Chapel of The Oaks at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, Calif. 91362. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m, with reception to follow. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., and interment will be at 3:30 p.m.
