Dorothy Lea Curnow, 81, of Ventura passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from a brief illness.
She was born November 4, 1930 in Bakersfield, California to Clayton and Nona A. (Scism) Acord, and had been a Ventura County resident for 59 years.
Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a deep sincere passion for genealogy which allowed her to travel all over the world. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church.
In her pastime, she enjoyed reading books of all topics. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ernest C. Curnow; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Patricia Curnow of Palmdale and Steven and Diane Curnow of Dixon; grandchildren, Michael Curnow of Palmdale and Kathryn Curnow of Sacramento.
A recent session of the California State Senate was adjourned in honor of Mrs. Dorothy Curnow. Services for Dorothy are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Braille Institute of America, Inc., 41 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90029, 1-800-272-4553, Ext. 1238.
