Duncan Stuart Wigg Jr. passed away April 9, 2008, at the age of 89.
Duncan was born to Duncan and Evelyn Wigg April 26, 1918, in Omaha, Neb. With his parents and five siblings, Duncan moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated from high school and attended college. After Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sent to San Francisco. While attending a church service, he met the love of his life, Marjorie Woodruff. They were married in 1942 and would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this July 4th.
Duncan was deployed to the South Pacific immediately after his wedding. For the next four years, he served valiantly in the Pacific Theater on board the LST. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and he and Marjorie settled in Southern California. In 1946, their son, Duncan III, was born. Then after moving to Van Nuys, they welcomed a daughter, Kathy, in 1949. In 1953 they moved the family to the first two-block subdivision built in the rural area of Northridge.
While in Northridge, Duncan established his own electrical contracting firm, Meridian Electric. He was an active Boy Scouts leader, taking part in many camp outs, hikes and jamborees for more than 10 years. He was a guiding light to many boys of those days! The Wigg family also enjoyed many memorable camping trips (in their small travel trailer) from King's Canyon to Baja California.
Duncan and Marjorie retired to Ventura in 1977 where, for several years, Duncan sold real estate. For the next 15 years, they served as ambassadors for Secure Horizons Health Plan, where they made countless loyal friends and clients. He and Marjorie were active volunteers, for many years, at Buenaventura Medical Clinic. Duncan was always happy to answer his phone and help someone with a problem, no matter the day or time.
Duncan will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Marjorie; son, Duncan Stuart Wigg III (wife Linda) of South Pasadena; daughter, Kathy O'Brien (husband Ron); granddaughter Erin Ambrose (husband Huc); great-granddaughters, Taya and Kiara Ambrose, all of San Luis Obispo; sister, Eleanor Christensen of Tustin; and brother, John Wigg of Oregon.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Albert Kam and his staff and Ernie Lucas, Duncan's caretaker, for their kind and compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 (on what would have been Duncan's 90th birthday) at the First Christian Church of Ventura, 38 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA 93003.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA 93003; phone 805-642-8134.

Dear Marge,
To the rest of us who had the privilege of caring for beloved Duncan, we were also fortunate eyewitnesses of your uncompromising, self-sacrificing devotion to your late husband, especially in the later years of his life. What a gift of love! We all thank you, Marge, for that.
As we remain sojourners in this world, Duncan is truly Home now.

marge-Duncan will be sorely missed around here. Please know that you are always welcome to come by and say Hi. All of us here at the clinic will never forget the volunteer hours you and Duncan put in here. Nor will I forget his contagious (and sometimes off-beat) sense of humor.
He was loved by all who knew him. May God Bless you and your family.

Marge, The love that you shared with Duncan can never be taken away from you. Both of you were blessed to have found one another. Even though you can't touch him, remember how much he touched your heart and soul, hopefully that will comfort you a little.
Both of you gave so generously of yourselfs to the staff and patients of Buena Ventura Medical Group. Duncan will be missed by all. But please remember, you are our family and we are here if you need us.
God bless, Cindi RN
