1923-2011 Gene Hare's motto for life was, "Live! Live! Live!" which she did to the fullest. On Feb. 8, 2011, she moved on to another act of her journey through life.
Emma Gene was the youngest child of George and Georgina Richards of Mammoth, Utah. She was born March 18, 1923 and almost made it to her 88th birthday. She lived a substantial part of her life in Camarillo working as a legal secretary. She married Leroy Baker Hare, an air cadet, in August of 1943 and they divorced in 1970. Gene has three children, Georgianne (Lauren Dalzen), Thomas Roy Hare (Darlene), and Sue Beth (Larry DeMartini). She has been blessed with 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who all adore her.
Gene has resided in Provo, Utah, for the last 28 years where she was active in the community. She served as a Neighborhood Chairman for the Marrcrest area, Chairman of the Board for the Marrcrest neighborhood, wrote Grandma Hare's Cookbook, provided homemade delicious wedding cakes for her grandchildren, and served on the Homemaking Committee for Rock Canyon Relief Society where she prepared dinners for 100 people several times a year. She did it all with style and flair.
Gene is preceded in death by her brothers, Bliss and Douglas Richards, and her sisters, Grace (Bill Morgan) and Beth (Archie Hill), and also a grandson, Jeffrey Aaron Dalzen.
Gene was the end of a remarkable generation. She helped her entire family learn to love life, music, good food and time together. Gene has been a resident of Bel Aire Care Center, Orem, Utah, for the past year, receiving loving helpful care for Alzheimer's disease. We are grateful for the help of the wonderful people at Bel Aire. They were our earthly angels. To express condolences go to www.serenicare.com.

Gene was our office manager at the Heily, Blase & Ellison law office in Oxnard when I joined the firm in 1970. She remained with us in that position for many years, until her move to Provo. During that time, she was a wonderful friend, a great office manager, and hostess of many delightful bar-b-ques at her home in Camarillo - where she also served the best guacamole known to mankind, which she made from avocados picked from her own trees. I am thankful for her friendship, and shall truly miss her.
My sincere condolences to Georgianne and family.

I met Gene through the Legal Secretaries Ass'n in Ventura in the '60's. I worked part time-vacation relief at that time. We hit it off & spent many enjoyable evenings going to Santa Barbara to hear Gil Rosas play at the Olive MillBistro, Monecito, Calif. Also spent many feastive occasions at the ranch in Camarillo. I lost track of Gene when she moved to Utah, but never forgot our good times together.
Deepest sympathy to the family for your loss, but be assured she will live on in many people's memory.
Sincerely,
Nadine Churchill

My sincere sympathies on the passing of Gene Hare. I worked for a law firm next door to hers in Oxnard during the 1960's-1970's. Gene was a grand gal. She introduced some of us legal secretaries to the wonderful Llord & Elwood Judge's Secret Cream Sherry while we were rehearsing for the annual Boss' Night at her house.
And if us "younger" legal secretaries ever needed help Gene was the lady to ask. Always pleasant and smiling even under pressure.

Mrs.Richards Gene's mother took care of my whole family in the 1930's after the death of my father. We, my sister, brother and the neighborhood kids took great delight in ALWAYS calling her Emma Gene. She hates it, so of course, it never stopped. This obit brings many happy memories and many, many years to mind. Our sympathies to the family. Helen Arosteguy Brant

Dear Georgianne and family,
I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She was such a neat lady - what fun times we had growing up and visiting your home. Also, later in my law enforcement career, working with her through the law firm. She was always gracious and had a beautiful smile.
You and your family are in Steve's and my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Was close friend of Gene's during our years at Oxnard High School.
She was funloving, outgoing person we all loved. Have had no contact since she came in bank where I was working to say goodby , that she
was moving to Utah. Happy to hear she was blessed with so many grandchildren & greatchildren. The world is a better place because of
her. My condolences to all. Jean (Conklin) Seegert, Camarillo
