Howard Thomas "Tommy" Hawks, 46, December 3, 1965 - July 20, 2012
Tommy - a loving husband, proud father, cherished son, caring brother and treasured friend - passed away on July 20, 2012 in Camarillo.
He was born to Emily and Tom Hawks, December 3, 1965 in Carlsbad, N.M. The summer of 1976 his family moved to his beloved Ventura, and his future took shape. Tommy attended both Balboa Jr. High, and Buena High School in Ventura. Corporal Tom Hawks, served in the Marine Corp infantry division from 1983 to 1988. "Ooh-rah!"
Tommy's 15 year career in the gaming industry began as trainer at a slot machine technician school in Las Vegas, Nev. He then moved to the Boyd Gaming Corporation as a slot technician. Through his relentless work ethic, Tommy moved up to executive management, being involved in the expansion of gaming throughout the United States.
After leaving the gaming industry, Tommy reconnected with a family friend from Ventura County. Through time, a love blossomed with Dana Wickens, and the two became husband and wife. Tommy moved back to his "home" Ventura and started fresh in the food and beverage industry as he managed the family IHOP
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Dana, and five children, Kristen, 22. Thomas, 21, Natalia, 14, Cameron, 11, and Nicole, 6. His parents, Tom and Emily Hawks, both 67, his two sisters, Renee Parker, 49, and Michelle Laughlin, 44, his brother, Scotty Hawks, 41, 12 nieces and nephews, and one great niece.
Tommy was a magnet for his family and friends. A much as he treasured his time around them, his family and friends were drawn to his character, his personality and his wicked sense of humor.
Tommy had a close relationship to music, and began playing the guitar in his teens. During this time he was able to pass this love on to his children and cherished the times he sat and played the guitar with his children. Over the last few years, Tommy was able to find some friends with this passion for music and became a member of a band. Tommy and his band frequently played at venues around the local area.
Tommy loved to explore the beauty of Ventura County while riding his motorcycle, either with friends, or Dana riding on the back. Tommy will forever overlook his beloved home, Ventura.

You'll never know how much you're missed and loved. And man I swear I hate you for leaving. But you couldn't have been a better father. I love who I am because of you and where you have taken me in my life. I have learned so much about life and myself since you've been gone and it has left me with so many more questions and oppotunties. I will forever love you. Your only son.

You can't put your arms around a memory. I think about you everyday. Your words and wisdom guide me through life. Without you here, it just sucks. You were gone too soon.
It is burned into my mind the last time I saw you. A quick bye. I remember when we went to the Johnny Cash festival a few years back and watched Kris Kristofferson play. You put your arm on my shoulder and we both got teary eyed.
Every memory I have of you is a good one. I feel as if everything that was "wrong" between us never existed. I can't wait to see you again. I hope your the first one I see.
Tell Elvis "whats up dawg" ha :)

Tommy, I miss you so very much. I have a hard time believing that you aren't here anymore. I never ever thought of us being apart until the day you left me. A part of me also died that day. I thank you for our children. Every one of them reminds me of you in different & wonderful ways. Until we meet again my love.

I couldn't have asked for a better father. He stuck to his guns when he was trying to do his best for his children, even if it wasn't always right. I miss him so much, but I know that he loved me and for now, that's enough for me.

Thomas was a great customer and friend to Paseo Mail Stop. His humor and keen wit was always a great joy to us and everyone around him. It was terrible news to hear of his passing, but for sure, he will not be forgotten! Rest in peace big guy - you will be sorely missed!

Dear Dana and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. The Tommy I remember was larger than life, and I hope that he lived that way. Shell and I always wanted to be were he was even if it meant getting into trouble with the folks. It sounds like that never changed for people in life. He will be truley missed but God must have had a plan and needed another GOOD MAN TO SERVE IN HIS ARMY!! " The Lord bless you and keep; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6-24-26

I am so sorry to hear of Tommy's passing. I have been wanting to see all of you. During the eclipse Tommy pointed out a face that showed up on our face book images. Right then I thought I want to see that guy again! And i will one day! Although I rarely had a chance to see him in recent years, I will never forget the times I did get to be around Tommy. He was so clever and funny, I completely enjoyed talking and joking with him.I have never forgotten how much fun we had when we were all at grandma McNabbs house. Take care-You are all in my prayers. Love Cynthia
