James Bychak of Thousand Oaks, a former resident of Santa Ana, Calif., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at the age of 83. Jim was born in Johnstown, Pa., and graduated from Johnstown High School. He served in the Army in World War II. He returned home and received his engineering degree from NYU. In 1954, he married and moved to California to pursue his engineering career.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary; and daughter, Terri.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Robyn Bychak of Santa Maria; his daughter and son-in-law, Dee Dee and Brad Stolshek of Thousand Oaks; and sister and brother-in-law, Gordon and Marie Palmer of Vista, Calif. He has four grandchildren, Kenny, Jacob, Rick, and Gillian; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie and KJ.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with a rosary at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 24, at Brown Colonial Mortuary, Santa Ana, Calif. Funeral services at 12:10 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Cathedral, 566 S. Glassell St., Orange, CA 92866, in James Bychak's name.

My condolensces to Ken and DeeDee...43 years ago James and Mary invited me into their home (I was a classmate of Ken) for a few sleepovers. I even went with their family to Yosemite for the 1st time in my life.
I have never forgot their kindness.
