Allen Covarrubias of Folsom, CA, passed away on December 27, 2011.
Allen was born in Ventura, CA, on April 20, 1938. He graduated from Oxnard Union High School in 1956. He was a letterman in baseball, and enjoyed all sports. Allen served as a Deputy Sheriff for Ventura County. He earned a B.A. in Sociology from San Jose State University in 1972 and a lifetime teaching credential from SJSU in 1973. Allen worked for General Motors in Fremont, CA and Detroit, MI. He began as a foreman and developed expertise in paint purity. He retired as an engineer after 36 years. Allen was an avid coin collector, and a lifetime member of the San Jose Coin Club.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Francis Allen Covarrubias of Oxnard, CA, and Kathryn Wisehart of Camarillo, CA. He is survived by his wife Carol Covarrubias of Folsom, daughter Kristina Covarrubias (Napier) of Wellesley Hills, MA, stepmother Martha Covarrubias of Oxnard, CA, stepdaughters Eileen Mack of Fremont, CA, and Lisa Lavering of Fair Oaks, CA, stepson Dan Farren of Rohnert Park, CA, and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at Oak Hills Church in Folsom, CA. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Folsom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Sacramento County SPCA.
