Jason Gaviati Obituary

Jason Andrew Gaviati

North Hollywood, CA

Jason "Gavi" Gaviati was born April 27, 1980, in Westlake Village, CA. He suffered a cardiac arrest on November 21, 2015, six days after his final chemotherapy treatment for Burkitt's Lymphoma. His cancer was in remission.

Jason attended Westlake Hills Elementary School and Colina Middle School and graduated from Westlake High School in 1998, where he played football and lettered in track and basketball. He also played club soccer and was an all-star baseball player. While he loved sports, especially the San Francisco 49ers, his greatest passion was his music. A self-taught keyboardist, he played for and toured with Samantha Ronson, STEFY, Gavin Rossdale, and most recently Lindsey Stirling. He also collaborated with many music artists as a songwriter and producer. He was privileged to travel the world doing what he loved ? entertaining and sharing the joy he felt while living his dream. His kindness, smile, silliness, and infectious laugh touched people wherever he went. When news of his cancer diagnosis spread, Jason was overwhelmed and humbled by the international outpouring of love he received.

Jason is survived by his mother Judy Gaviati of Thousand Oaks, father Ron Gaviati of Pasadena, sisters Beverly Gaviati Shumaker of Valencia and Anne Langpap (Bryan) of La Verne as well as nieces and nephews Taylor and Trevor Langpap and Evan and Chloe Shumaker and a host of dear and close friends.

A private celebration of Jason's life was held at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. To honor Jason's memory, a scholarship fund will be established at Westlake High School for music students who embody Jason's positivity and graciousness. Contributions to the fund may be made at https://www.gofundme.com/2nv6ujw4.

I'm so glad that me and my Son, got the chance to meet and talk with you at Lindsey's Meet and Greet on Feb. 19th 2013 at the Straz Center in Tampa Bay. You were a great inspiration to my Son and also helped me find my confidence again to play my keyboard again after years of not playing!.....You were such a really nice man, and our meeting will always be treasured close to our hearts!...May you rest in peace Gavi

You brought so much joy to my life, Gavi, and I never even got the chance to meet you. I can only hope you truly understood how much of an impact your enthusiasm for life had on fans all around the world. You had such a beautiful soul and I'm so thankful you had the chance to share it with the rest of us.

Dear Gavi,
While I never had the privilege of meeting you in person I was fortunate enough to see you "in your element" playing your beloved keyboards along side Lindsey Stirling at The Hard Rock Café, Orlando, in July 2014.
I pray that you are at peace in Heaven this day playing, once more, your beloved keyboards, but, to a much larger and loftier crowd :)
Love & Prayers,
Libby
