He was born February 25, 1951, in Zamora, Michoacan, to Jesus and Lupe Ceja. Raised in Ojo de Agua, Michoacan, he moved to the United States in 1965 and later settled in the Moorpark area. Jose Luis graduated from Moorpark High School in 1971, and married Aurora on November 30, 1974, at the Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard, Calif.

He was a hard working man, starting his first job at the age of 14. While he wasn't working he enjoyed spending time tending to his yard and garden, and helping his family and friends with household projects. Jose Luis enjoyed and loved family gatherings and visiting with his granddaughter.

Those who knew him, knew he loved to joke in a loving way and always had a nickname for those special to him. Jose Luis always had a way of making people feel loved and he was loved by many in return.

He is survived by his wife, Aurora of Moorpark; children, Jose of Moorpark, Karina (Mike Gibson) of Minnesota, and Fabian (Shanoa) of Moorpark; grandchildren, Avea and Gabriel; his mother, Lupe Ceja of Moorpark; sister, Lupita Cuadra of Moorpark; his brothers, Jesus of Glendale, Ariz., Juan of Moorpark, and Javier of Moorpark.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Ceja, and sister, Maria de Lourdes.

A Rosary for Jose will be held on Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m. located at St. Rose of Lima Church in Simi Valley. Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. located at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley.
