Katherine Wyatt Obituary

Katherine Rose Wyatt, 53, of Cahone, Colo., entered into the gates of heaven on July 28, 2006, in Cortez, Colo., after an only three-month battle with brain cancer.

Kathy was born Jan. 23, 1953, in Santa Monica, Calif. Kathy grew up in Thousand Oaks. When she was just 16 years old, she met the love of her life, Randall Wyatt. Randy and Kathy were married in December 1971 and were blessed with four beautiful children. They lived in Somis and Camarillo for many years and relocated to Cahone, Colo., about 18 years ago.

Kathy's passions were her family and her job. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Kathy was a very hardworking, conscientious employee. Everyone who was fortunate to have met Kathy, loved Kathy. She adored all children and they loved her. She had a great sense of humor and the prettiest blue eyes one had ever seen. She was her mother's best friend and they shared a very special bond that will never be broken. She was a loving and faithful sister.

While a teenager, Kathy worked at the California Lutheran University in the food service department. She also worked at the 3M Co. in Camarillo for several years and for a brief time at Camarillo State Hospital. She had bene employed for the past 17 years at City Market in Cortez, Colo. Kathy was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through her husband, children and grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Barbara Cofield of Oxnard; husband, Randall Wyatt of Cahone, Colo.; daughter, Tanya Wyatt, and her partner, Dirk Richards, of Nucla, Colo.; sons Jason Wyatt and partner Joslyn of Durango, Colo., Justin Wyatt and wife Brianna of Cahone, Colo., and Jarrod Wyatt and wife Colette of Cortez, Colo.; brother Keith Thomas of Utah; sisters, Lela Babauta and husband Joe of Oxnard and Laura McLucas and husband Glenn of Camarillo; brother Robert Thomas and wife Irma of Camarillo; and grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to Kathy's memorial fund at Vectra Bank, 508 E. Main St., Cortez, CO 81321.

God saw you getting tired

And a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around you,

And whispered, "Come with me."

With tearful eyes we

Watched you suffer,

And saw you fade away.

Although we loved you

Dearly, we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hardworking hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

It's lonesome here without you

We miss you more each day.

Life doesn't seem the same

Since you've gone away.

When days are sad and lonely

And everything goes wrong,

We seem to hear you whisper,

"Cheer up and carry on."

Each time we see your picture

You seem to smile and say,

"Don't cry, I'm in God's keeping,

We'll meet again someday."

I love you sister Kathy and I miss you so much. I think about you all the time and I remember all the wonderful times we shared. You are 11 years older than me and you were like a second mother to me. When I think of all the times we interacted and talked about life events, i don' t remember a single time you treated me bad or even raised your voice. You were always caring and compasionate towards me. You always gave me sound advice and guided me in the right direction. I will never forget you and I will love you forvever.

11-01-07: Hi Kath, I love and miss you soooooooo much, my beloved sister!! I was going through some boxes in my garage. I found some precious things you had given me. One of the boxes was full of stuff from my office room where I had so many knick knacks, pics, gifts from people. I packed this box about three years ago when we had the house painted. I found an 8 x 10 framed beautiful message that said: SISTERS ARE TIED TOGETHER FOREVER BY HEARTSTRINGS (or something like that) On the back you wrote December 1998 to my sister Lela, I love you very much and I hope we all have a great 1999. I found photo albums. Inside one album were the pictures of you in the nail shop in Ventura. You had come to California for brother Bob's 40th birthday so we took you to get a pedicure and get your nails done, things you never got to do for yourself!! We had fun at that party didn't we!! Then you missed your flight the next day, I'm sorry and we thought we were making good time. You looked so beautiful and happy in those pictures, were you having bad headaches then? You never complained, I love you. Alasia talks about you all the time and she always know her beautiful Auntie!!! Guess what? Joe finally did it, he is a full fleged Respiratory Therapist. He starts his new job at Los Robles hospital in Thousand Oaks tomorrow, we are all so proud of him, he worked so hard for this accomplishment. Thank you for always supporting me in my endeavors, you were always there for me, always and always. Thank you for everything you did for me and for my family. We had a great life together, lots of fun, I love you. Mom came over last night, on halloween. We sat in my living room and talked, laughed, and cried. We miss you so much, we don't understand why you had to leave us, we are so sad. Joe made us grilled cheese sandwhiches, he is so great. We passed out candy and enjoyed the cute children trick or treating. Your grandchildren are all doing great and are all very gorgeous!! Oh, guess what? I am taking the Deputy Sheriff written test and physical agility testing on Saturday, November 3rd. I plan to retire from the Department of Corrections and go back to work as a deputy, can you believe that!!! I do not have to go through the academy again, just all the other 'stuff' involved in the hiring process. Thank you for being at my graduation from the Police Academy in Octover 1984, as usual, always there for me!! I LOVE YOU SISTER goodnight

August 5, 2007: My Dear Beloved and Beautiful Sister Kathy:
Mom and I just returned from your one year memorial service. We were there at your resting place with all of your family, they are all soooooooo beautiful! Kaiden is almost 1 1/2 now, Ethan is almost one, your daughter, sons, and all your grandchildren are soooo gorgeous and we miss you so very, very much sister. Life seems unbearable without you and we miss you so much Kath. I still can not believe you are gone. I am trying my best to find comfort in knowing we will all be reunited, won't we? I am still waiting to dream about you, my beautiful sister, if I have, I have not recalled it. Randy is doing the best he can, he is grieving you soooooooo much and we are all so sorry you had to suffer like you did sister. We visited Valley Springs Rehabilitation Center in Mancos. This is the facility you were in after your discharge from the hospital in Farmington. It is a very, very beautiful place Kathy and all, yes, all of the people we met there were so very genuinely nice!! They remembered you Sister, who wouldn't? Those beautiful blue eyes of yours!! Mom and I had a great road trip, traveling together, listening to music and radio talk shows, spending intimate time together, I wish you could've been with us, but you were, huh Kathy, you were with us! When I get pictures back, I will put them here in your on-line memorial, o.k. My grandchilren love you and miss you sister, they willever forget you, I will always speak to them about their beutiful Aunt Kathy and show them all my pictures, they will always know you, my sister. We can not believe it has been a year since you were taken to be an angel Kathy, the time here goes by so very, very fast and we are so sorrowful but we are trying to find happiness and comfort, it is so very hard though. Well, it is very late so I will end this message, I love you with all my heart my beloved sister!! Lela

May 23, 2007: Hi my beloved sister, I miss you more today than I did yesterday and last month I am crying many tears right now I can't see the keyboard. I just can't get over your death and what hurts so much is the suffering you had to endure. I just can't find any kind of peace about your death, I miss you. If you came back, I would spend every day with you!! But we are not given another chance. I have reminders of you all around my world and my life, constant beautiful memories and pictures. All the cards and pictures you sent me over the years, the gifts, all the precious knick knacks and sister things, the books, the pictures of you, Randy, and the kids at a camping trip. I stare at so many pictures and I realize how very precious life is because we don't know when it will be taken. We used to talk about things like this when it happened to other people and you had so much compassion as I did too. I love you sis and what you went through just wasn't fair, I will never understand why such a beautiful person inside and out had to suffer like that. Sometimes I feel like I wouldn't mind dying now because you did and then I would be with you and I could escape all this stress in my life but life is good so I don't want to die right now. Alasia loves you and talks about you swimming with the dolphins and tells me she gets things from you when I ask her where she got something. She moved all the little memory pictues, and little things about you to her room. She really talks about you every day of our life. Aspen just turned five a few days ago and she is gorgeous just like her grandma Kathy. I get pictures of Ethan, Justin, and Brianna, they are beautiful. Jarrod and Collete send me pictures of Kaiden, he is beautiful too!! Tanya's children are such great, great kids and very gorgeous too!! You have beautiful family who miss you soooooo much. My heart breaks for Randy and all the kids, I don't know how they get through each day. I have often driven by your house on Aggen Road, it is full of very special memories!! Thank you for all the great food and love. I Love you Kath P.S. Joe received his A.S. degree today and he will be taking the Respiratory Exam on May 30, 2007. He said to me: "Do you think Kathy is proud of me?" I know you are!!! LOVE YOU SISTER LELA

It has been a year since Kathy became ill. It was the Monday right after Easter that she ended up in the hospital and treated for a diagnosis of encephalitis and released. Within three days, she was back in the hospital due to severe head pain. Addidtional testing revealed the brain tumor and she suffered, died, and was buried three months later. My beloved sister whom I love and miss sooooooooooooo much, I am so sorry you had to suffer like you did. We talked about things like that happening to other people and you were so compassionate about it. You were an angel on eareth as you truley are in heaven. We are all grieving your death so badly and so sadly and we really are trying to come to terms with it but we are not there yet. Kathy, I miss you and I have wonderful memories of all those fun camping trips to Lake Lopez, Lake Cachuma, and Refugio beach. All the good times and good food at our house on Aggen Road in Somis. Our children roamed the land and had a ball. All the wonderful and generous things you did for me and my children, God Bless you my sister We will soon be upon the anniversery of your death, one day before Alasia's birthday. She can't stop talking about her Auntie Kathy , she adored her, Kathy I Love You Sister Lela

Hi mom. It was baby Kaiden's birthday this week. It was great day and Kaiden got a lot of nice gifts. We are going to have a party this saturday in Fruita for Kaiden. A lot of people are showing up, he gets a lot of love. I wish you could be here and I really miss you especially during these times. I know you're looking over us and that you miss us also. Everyone says Kaiden looks like me so that means he looks like his Grandma Kathy too. It breaks my heart to know he'll never get to know you but I talk to him about you all the time and through me he will know who you were and that you were the best mom and grandma in the world. Although I didn't know your dear Kathy, I can tell by the love that she generated from you that she was a very, very special sister, mother, wife and friend. January 23, 2007: Kathy's birthday is today and her first birthday since she died. It wass a sad day because she is not with us anymore but happy because we celebrated her life!! I attempted to enter an audio message, but it was late at night and it just did'nt work out. We all love and miss you very much Kathy. I am still going through all the cards and letters that I had given Kathy over the past 35 years!! Yes, my sister had saved every card, letter, picture, newspaper articles of my son's sporting events, everything I had ever sent her. Her daughter returned them all to me. Tanya is an angel as are all Kathy's children and grandchildren. I as soooooooooooooooooooooo sad here without you my beloved sister, I don't understand why you were taken from me so soon!! I miss you and I am sorry I wasn't always there for you but you were and are always in my heart my beautiful angel sister.

February 5, 2007

My name is Jarrod and I am Kathy's "Baby Bear". My mom was a great person who will never be replaced and who will always be missed. I always told her "I loved her more than life itself" and everytime I would tell her this she would smile and it would light up her life. She was the greatest person I've ever known and probably will ever know. There isn't an hour that goes by that I don't think about my mom and all the good times we had and the good times I had planned. When my son gets old enough to comprehend who his Grandma Kathy was I will tell him about her everyday and I will tell him how she was the most loving, caring, and greatest mom and grandma that a person could have. I love you mom and I will always miss you. Thankyou Aunt Lela, my mom would appreciate everything you do for her. I love you.
