6/4/1924- 12/4/2014 Ramon died peaceful in his home, surround by his family, six months into his 91st year.
Ramon was born on June 4, 1924, to Elisa Morales Hernandez and Lazaro Hernandez in Apex, Arizona and was raised in Gran Morelos, Chihuahua, Mexico. He and his wife, Paula Chavez Hernandez, immigrated to Ventura as newlyweds in 1946. They raised their four children in the same home where he lived independently until his death.Paula preceded him in death in 2007 after 61 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings: Juanna, Jose, Margarita, Elisa, Carmen, and Maria.
Lovingly referred as "Pop" by his children Jesse Hernandez (Judy), Elisa Puchir (Ron), Lupe Hernandez, and Josie Ralstin (Jamey); Grandchildren: Kristyn, Aaron, Martina, Mark, Kayla, and Kassie; Great-grand children: Kaden, Emma, Maya, Jesse, and Aliya. He also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as other family members.
Ramon worked for Ventura Coastal Corporation, retiring in 1989. His lifetime hobbies included handyman to all who needed his help; self-taught in playing the guitar and saxophone; and in his early years playing handball and baseball. He had a love/hate relationship with his beloved Dodgers. Ramon was a parishioner of San Buenaventura Mission for over 68 years.
Ramon's family would like to thank Imelda Ferrira for her kindness, compassion and love shown to him. We are also grateful to Oakhurst Hospice for their assistance.
