Dec. 30, 1965- Nov. 14, 2010
Rhonda was born Dec. 30, 1965 in Ponce Puerto Rico while her parents were stationed at the US Navy base, Ft. Allen. Her first few days of life were quite hectic having extreme difficulty retaining any nourishment. However, she fought and fought and continued on through life taking part in many activities such as Brownies, Girl Scouts, school and church functions. Seldom did a day go by that Rhonda was not actively participating in one of many functions.
During her early years, Rhonda lived in Puerto Rico, Illinois (twice), Wisconsin and Maryland, settling in Simi Valley with her parents, Beverly and Wayne Turk, brothers, Tim and Chris, and sister, Shari. In 1986 she met and fell in love with the man of her life, James Evensen, Jr., whom she married on June 25, 1988. Rhonda and Jim had a deep love for one another. In 1990 their daughter Madelynn was born, and three years later Rhonda gave birth to their son Trevor.
Rhonda had strong traditional family values and believed in sit-down dinners together, being involved in all the family activities, and sharing time together. She was also a big fan of traveling and wanted to see world. She visited Japan, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Aruba, the Caribbean, and Hawaii on many occasions, as well as traveling throughout the United States, including Alaska.
Her other interests included camping, hiking, motorcycle riding, socializing, and driving her Corvette. She possessed many talents and was an accomplished interior designer and florist.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Cecil and Lila Turk; her maternal grandparents, John and Mildred Stables; her uncle, Ronald Stables; and her father-in-law, Jim Evensen, Sr.
She is survived by her parents, siblings, husband, and children.

Jim, Maddie, Trevor, and all of Rhonda's family we were so saddened to learn of your loss. Rhonda was a loving person with a special artistic talent. The arrangement she did for Ida at my mother's services was beautiful. My mother & Aunt when they were living on Verde Vista enjoyed all the Evensen family as great neighbors which we also did when we visited. We will never forget what a wonderful person she was and what a big loss it is for all of us. We regret not knowing about the services and missing them. We send our heartfelt condolences to all the family.

It's impossible to put into mere words what an amazing woman Rhonda was. She was a woman of strength, faith, courage and determination...and most of all a woman of Love. Whatever she set out to do...she would accomplish in a first class way. I am truly blessed to have called her friend for 25 years... I'll love you forever, my sweet friend... till we see each other again...
