Ricardo "Tato" J. Miramontes, 47, of Oxnard died suddenly in Las Vegas, Nev., as the result of a tragic auto accident on Oct. 28, 2005. He is now home with our Lord.
Ricardo was born on Feb. 13, 1958, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He graduated from Channel Islands High School in 1976 with an unbeatable record in cross country mile relay. This was something he would brag about proudly.
In 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country proudly for four years, with honors.
"Big Tots," as his brothers called him, will be remembered for his ways of always making people laugh. He was a jokester, always finding humor in any situation, no matter how serious. He had a love for fixing anything, broken or not. He would say, "I'll make it better. Don't you trust me?" and of course we didn't.
The No. 1 loves in his life were his children: his beautiful daughter, Lorraine, who he loved to tease, "Lori, Lori, what's the story," and his son, Richard Jr. -- a son says it all.
He will be greatly missed. We love you, Tato. You will always be in our hearts.
Ricardo was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mauro and Maria Miramontes; brothers Ezequiel and Danny Miramontes; and brother-in-law, Eugene Daniel.
He is survived by his two children, Lorraine R. Miramontes and Richard J. Miramontes Jr.; sisters, Margaret Marin (husband Manuel), Susana Leon (husband Julio), Mary Miramontes, Olivia Miramontes, Sandra Daniel, and Angelica Cabrera (husband Mike); and brothers Mauro Miramontes (wife Juanita), Alfredo Miramontes (wife Charlotte), Jaime Miramontes (wife Linda), Alberto Miramontes (wife Dolores), Tommy Miramontes, and Jose Luis Miramontes.
The Miramontes family would like to give there thanks to Dora Perez for her continuous understanding and compassion for Richard throughout his difficult times.
A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at James A. Reardon-Payton Mortuary chapel, 511 North A St., Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the James A. Reardon-Payton Mortuary; phone 1-805-483-2233.
