Passed peacefully from the arms of his family to the arms of his LORD, Aug. 6, 2010 with the support and love from VITAS Hospice and Oxnard Family Circle at his home in Port Hueneme.
Born May 2, 1922 in Palmyra, Mo. Valedictorian of his class, he dreamed of being a pilot. As a career officer in the USAF he attained this dream and flew in three wars, retiring as a Major in 1969. As a civilian he joined his family in Ojai where he soon became active in the Optimists and Toastmasters. Always energetic, Dick Schaller soon founded Western Travel and for the next 30 years took thousands of seniors on trips across the US and several continents by air, land and sea to fun filled destinations.
He was happiest playing Santa every year, giving out presents and telling funny stories, all the while sharing his mood of boundless enthusiasm. In 1996 he moved to Port Hueneme.
Dick is survived by his wife, Nathalie, and four children, Linda, Judy, Richard and Gary, who will love him always.

My wife and I were two of many seniors who had our lives recharged and brightened by taking trips with Dick. His photos and Christmas presents are memories of the great times we had with him. His service to his country and to friends and senior citizens is sincerely appreciated.
