Roger Hale Obituary

Roger Lee Hale, born on Aug. 18, 1948, in Bakersfield, to Clive (Al) and Clara Hale, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer on April 12, 2010.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Debi, and his father, Clive (Al) Hale.

He is survived by his children, Brian Hale (wife Dorothy), Lisa Donovan, Angela Cereoli, Jera Hale and sister- in- law, Mindy (Husband Fred), Alisha Bryant (niece); grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Alexandria, Hunter, Ronnie, Kaylee, Amber, Dylon and Marisa; numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends and many others including his best friend through life and constant companion through the end, Gary Jones .

Roger was a an avid pool player; he and his late wife Debi played for many leagues and won many trophies. He seemed to have a penchant for winning trophies as he won many for various activities including drag racing, arm wrestling, and his most recent passion, car shows, where he was proud to show off his custom 55 Chevy Bel-Air that he built with his own talented hands from the ground up. Roger also enjoyed spending his time with his friends at the local hangouts. He was happy when he was able to ride his Harley on the open road with his friends.

Camping was a favorite pastime with his family and that is a tradition sure to be carried on by his loved ones.

Roger supported his family since he was a young boy in Texas helping his mother raise his five sisters. He then moved to California when he was 18 to start a new life and family of his own, where he then started his company, California Concrete, which he owned and operated til his death.

Roger was a member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles and spent his last years there enjoying the company of his Eagles brothers and sisters. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and was soon to be a first time great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to countless people. He will absolutely be missed by all who knew him.

His last wish was to have a celebration of life, in lieu of funeral services, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, at The Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Oxnard.

Those of you who would like to join us on a memorial bike run to his celebration we will be meeting at the Lamplighter Inn, Camarillo, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions/donations may be made to the Eagles.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Hale kids and their families. He was a good friend, boss, and the (Breezeway) bar owner I ran pool and dart teams out of. He was so strong and one hell of an arm wrestler. I moved to Oregon 12 years ago, and didn't know of both Debi or Roger passing until now. Rest In Peace Roger I'll will never forget the both of you.

Dear Roger & Debi...
It's been years since you extended your warm hospitality to me and my "ex," and you've probably run into him up there. We had a great time playing pool and traveling to Ontario & Saugus to watch you race the Corvette. Brian, Lisa, and Jera were small then. I'll look for you when it's my time, too.

Brian, Angie, Lisa, Jera and your children, Im so sorry for the loss of your dad, though his fight was long overdue for a victory, he is in a much better place with your Mom and so many other beautiful people. Im sorry I was unable to make it, but I hope that knowing Arnie was there gave some kind of comfort. As with me, Arnie truly repected your father, and wants nothing but the best for you all. With so much love and respect I hold dear to my heart, the memory of my last visit with my brother.

Roger,
words can never express the love I have for you. I love you so much it hurts!! You were more than a brother-in-law to me you were my brother my rock. You always took good care of Alisha and myself. You were always there for us no matter what. You are the stongest man I will ever know. (You had to be to put up with Debi and me for all these years! ha!). Well God has all of you now so save me a good spot and give my sister and mom, dad, danny, larry and all of the rest of our family the biggest kiss ever. I love you so much, although I am hurting so in my heart I know you have no more pain. You are out of that painful body and in a place where there is no pain, sickness, violence ect. Only love and peace. We are SO LUCKY TO HAVE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL ANGELS to watch over the kids and me. I will miss you so very much but I have so many memories, beautiful memories.
DEATH LEAVES A HEARTACHE NO ONE CAN HEAL

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Brian, Lisa and the entire family, We lived behind you for a lot of years. Roger would wake early and either start his boat, bike or chevy and we knew he and his family were off to a fun filled day. Roger may have lost this fight but he gained a spot in a more meaningful place. Know that he cherished friends and family and would always come around the corner to make sure all was well. He will be missed. Smitty, JoEdna, Roberta, Santor and Qualls Family.

Dad,
How do I get through this day without having you as my rock to lean on. It has been harder than I could have ever imagined. I will miss the countless times that I would make up a silly reason to call you just so we could talk a bit. As I sit here this morning and struggle with what is, I can only hope that you are in a better place and free from all the terrible pain that you took on so stoically. There have been countless people coming forward lending there support for that I am grateful as I can only beleive that deep down you are sending them our way. Today I will get on my harley and ride for you and your deserving freedom in heaven. I love you and miss you more than words can say nor can I express.
I am not crying because I feel so sorry for you. I am crying for me. Toby Keith.

Love your daughter, Lisa
