With deep sadness, we announce the passing of "Larry" Boyd. Larry died peacefully at home on July 21st, 2009 with his wife and daughter in attendance.
He was born July 27th, 1914 in Goldthwaite, Texas and had moved to California in 1928. Larry made his living as a Blacksmith for the Southern Pacific Railroad, Department of Water and Power and for the L.A. City Fire Department.
He retired from the Fire Department in 1979 after 24 years of service. Larry was a much-loved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Thousand Oaks, California and had served the church in many capacities over the years.
He was also known as the "grandfather of the neighborhood" and was often seen in his front yard to greet all the families going to and from Peach Hill Academy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 6 p.m. at the LDS church located at 3645 Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks, CA.
We are suggesting donations to the American Cancer Society or the City of Hope in lieu of flowers. Larry leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Clover; his daughter, Sally Caporaso, her husband Aldo, and his two grandchildren, Jon Marco and Tony, all of Moorpark, California. Larry was pre-deceased by his son, Bob, and we take comfort in the knowledge that they are together again.

Our thoughts are with your family at this sad time. We will miss Grandpa every morning on our way to school. The walk just won't be the same without his smiling face and kind words.
