Our family is mourning the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Thomas H. Frye, who went to his heavenly home on June 30, 2018 after a short illness. He was a wonderful husband to Valerie Jean (married 62 years) and a great dad to his three sons William (wife Darlene), Craig (wife Peggy), and Eric, and a proud grandpa to Jennifer (age 19) and William (age 15).

Tom was born in Southgate, California on April 20, 1934 to Thomas and Edna Frye. He graduated from 29 Palms High School in 1951 and went to Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where he was student body president. After attending UCSB for one year, he graduated from San Diego State with a BA degree.

Tom took great pride in his 31-year career serving in the Navy, Naval Reserve and the Navy Civil Service. He first began his civilian career in 1960 when he went to work at Norton Air Force base in San Bernardino. In 1965 Tom moved with his family to Ventura where he joined the Naval Ship Missile Systems Engineering Station in Port Hueneme. There he served in the Logistics Directorate providing technical support to the Navy's Surface Missile Fleet, as well as leadership positions in the Supply and the Maintenance departments and as head of civilian personnel. He retired in 1987 working afterwards for local defense contractors who provided technical support for NSWSES.

Tom was a devoted family man who cared deeply for his family and was willing to make any sacrifice for them. He was a natural born leader and enjoyed organizing and getting things done. Tom was, also, very generous with his time and skills in helping others. He was a voracious reader and could easily converse on any subject. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the piano, home projects and traveling with his wife to many parts of the world. Tom spent the last weeks of his life with his devoted family at his side, while receiving outstanding and compassionate care at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

A Memorial service, honoring Tom, will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 1:00 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he and his wife have been long time members. A reception will be held following the service.
