Virginia Ann Gilford was born August 8, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa. She passed comfortably on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008.
Virginia was a member of the "Greatest Generation." Her unquestionable loyalties to family, country and moral truth were her absolute standards throughout her life. Playing bridge, cooking, traveling and being the best hostess of all time were her loves in life.
Virginia was married to Al Gilford for 62 years. They were married in Las Vegas. This union of life partners was her defining love and being in life. There could be no other stronger bond in life than their love for each other. They resided in Glendale, California, and then later relocated to Oxnard. Their love produced two children, Janet and John; with two granddaughters, Kelly and Kacey. Virginia's love and dedication to them always put a sparkle in her eyes when talking about them to her friends. She was very rich with friends that made her life full and complete. Friends will always remember her for her loyalty and respect for them.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Al Gilford; daughter, Janet Miller and son-in-law Will Miller of Medford, Oregon; son, John Gilford and daughter-in-law Barbara Gilford of Seal Beach, Calif.; and granddaughters, Kelly Gilford and Kacey Gilford.

Dear Gil & family: My deepest sympathy to you all. What I really want to say is: "What a classy lady" who I admired greatly. She always talked about each of her family members with such love. We already miss her a lot at the beauty shop. Love, Candy
