David Batty

1958 - 2023

David Batty David Ronald Batty passed away August 15, 2023, at the age of 64. David was born Sept. 18, 1958, to Karen Elizabeth and Wayne D. Batty in Vernal. David married Jody on Dec. 7, 1989, in the West Jordan temple. David loved his family so much and was always thinking of them and sharing fun stories about them to anyone that would listen. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and loved when the family would gather to eat good food and play cards and board games. He also enjoyed watching movies and TV shows like Ancient Aliens, Chuck, Longmire, Justified and Breaking Bad. He had delightful sense of humor and would constantly tease everyone he met. Making friends came so easily to him, it seemed like he could meet someone new, and they'd be great friends within minutes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farm work, cows and tractors. He looked for every opportunity to spend time and bond with his grandkids, Tayten and Kabreyla; he was beyond proud of them. David became inspired to become a registered nurse after seeing his wife go through a heart transplant. He took great pride in his work as a nurse and in not only helping others but befriending them and caring about each of his patients and coworkers. He even expressed that he considered many of his coworkers as family. David was able to bond with people in a special way and cared about getting to know them. In recent years, he especially valued the patients he got to work with in Cardiac Rehab, he treasured the strong relationships he made. He showed compassion and empathy in everything he did, and his heart had an unlimited capacity to love. David is survived by his wife, Jody Batty; sisters, Sheila Slaugh and Sherry (Farley) Sowards; children, Talon (Jamie) Batty, Chantry (Travis) Hammons, Dakota Batty, and Shay Batty; grandson, Tayton Hammons; and granddaughter, Kabreyla Hammons. David is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Karen Batty; sisters, Janiel Batty and Diane Bigelow; and brothers, Kevin Batty, and Richard Batty. Funeral Services for David were held Saturday, Aug 19, at noon at the Vernal 8th ward chapel. Viewing and visitation for the family and friends was held and Saturday morning from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., at the chapel on highway 40. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
