Funeral services for Lena Mae HorseChief, 55, of Tahlequah, were held at Green Country Funeral Home at Tahlequah. Burial followed at McCoy Cemetery, north of Sallisaw.
Mrs. HorseChief was born on May 25, 1968, in Tahlequah to Betty (Drum) and Herman Acker. She died on May 18, 2023.
She graduated from Braggs High School as valedictorian of her class. She received an Associates Degree from Bacone College and an Early Childhood Education degree from Northeastern State University. She worked as an early childhood teacher at Muskogee Early Childhood Center for 15 years, and was a member of Stokes Smith stomp grounds.
She married David C. HorseChief on August 9, 1990, at Dwight Mission.
Survivors are her husband, of the home; children, Corrigan, Garrett and Samantha; sisters, Betty Jean, Diana and Martha Patterson; two nephews and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sydnee; sister, Mary Allen; and brother, Richard Acker.
Pallbearers were D'Mahree Turner, Trayelle Davis, John Drum, Obediah O'Field, Danny Bell, Todd Downing and T. J. Downing,
Honorary pallbearers were Garrett and Noah HorseChief.
