Carol Wilson Obituary

Waynesville WILSON, Carol Jane, age 90, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at The Enclave of Springboro. Carol was born July 21, 1933, to Guy and Leora "Mae" (née Green) Rhea in Jackson, Ohio. She graduated from Jackson High School, class of '49. She retired in 2003 from the Department of Energy as an Industrial Relations Specialist following 17 years of service. During John McCain's run for the US Presidency in 2008, Carol became active in the Republican Party, helping with McCain's campaign. She was recognized as one of the top volunteers for his campaign and was highly respected. Carol always looked forward to family gatherings, especially during the holidays. Among many things, she will be remembered for how proud she was of her five children and how loving and kind she was as a mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Charles E. Wilson, Jr.; son, Douglas E. Wilson; her parents, Guy and Leora "Mae" Rhea; three brothers, Gerald, Haldor, and Donald Rhea; and three sisters, Anna Katherine "Katie" Chamberlain, Ruth Davis, and Wylda McDaniels. She is survived by two sons, Charles R. "Chuck" Wilson (Claudia Lucas) and Erick (Marlena) Wilson; two daughters, Rheta Caravantes and Luann Corbeil; daughter-in-law, Karen Wilson; eight grandchildren, Kacey (Chad) McKee, Angela Wilson, Kristina Wilson, Jeffrey Caravantes, Scott Corbeil Jr., Laura Caravantes, Mackenzie Corbeil, and Zachary Zerkle; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews and extended family members. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, March 3, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia. Chaplin Lisa Stephens will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends from 12 - 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
