BERTHA COLEMAN OWENS, age 94, of
Haysi, Virginia went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2025 at her home following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. She was born on December 8, 1930, to the late Rufus and Della (Charles) Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Coleman, Gerald Coleman, Arland Coleman and infant brother and two sisters, Gladys Fletcher and Faye Coleman.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her children; son, Billy Owens, and his wife Nina of Abingdon, VA; son, Terry Owens, of
Haysi, VA; daughter, Sandy Coleman, and her husband Paul of Vansant, VA; five grandchildren, Anna Owens, Ava Galliher and her husband Robby, Daphne Hartford and her husband Stephen, Christie Stiltner and her husband Nathan, and Tamara Thompson and her husband Eric; nine great-grandchildren, Aisha Brooks and her husband Kevin, Sara McGlothlin and her husband Chad, Kyle Hartford, Kaitlyn Justus and her husband Timothy, Mason Deskins, Leah Galliher, Lauren Deskins, Riley Thompson, Corey Thompson; two great-great grandchildren, Kason McGlothlin and Kendall Justus and several nieces and nephews.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. Amongst her many talents, sewing was one of them. She worked at a local sewing factory for many years. She loved to garden, especially flower gardens. Her faith and strength through life's trials were an inspiration to all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and faith in God's promises.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Haysi Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lester Boyd officiating. Burial followed in the W.A. Boyd Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers were Mason Deskins, Kyle Hartford, Stephen Hartford, Nathan Stiltner, Robby Galliher, Paul Coleman, Chad McGlothlin, Timothy Justus, Riley Thompson, Eric Thompson, Kevin Brooks.
The family received friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the funeral home, where a service was held at 7:00 p.m.
