BRADLEY DEE MCCLANAHAN SR., 56 years of age of Hurley, VA passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home.
Born February 18, 1967, to the late Frank and Mary Ruth McClanahan. Bradley was a graduate of Grundy High School and worked as an equipment operator until he fell ill with cancer last year. He spent his free time hunting, fishing, farming, anything outdoors and working on anything he could take apart.
He had many titles in his life, son, brother, cousin, husband, friend, boss to name a few, but the ones he was most proud of were dad and papaw. As children, our father was our hero. He was the strongest and most courageous man we knew. He never gave up no matter how hard life got. Now as adults we each pray to be just half the parent he was.
Bradley was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Benny McClanahan; infant great nephew; brother-in-law, Teddy Cline; and the greatest love of his life and mother to his children, Theresa Ann (Clabough) McClanahan.
Those left broken hearted by this horrible loss include his wife of 16 years, Anita "Linda" McClanahan, two daughters, Natasha and husband Kevin Duty, Grundy, VA, Kayla and husband Timmy Hackney, Hurley, VA; two sons, Bradley Jr and wife Kasie McClanahan, Hurley, VA, Brady McClanahan and fiancée Samantha Weinacht, Bellingham, MA; step-daughter, Heather Dotson and companion Ronnie Carter, Grundy, VA; step-sons, Larry Dotson Jr. and companion Renee Stiltner, Dank, VA, Joshua and wife Heather Dotson, VA; grandchildren, Adrianna Slone, Kinley Duty, Natalie Gibson, Rylee McClanahan and Ella McClanahan; step-grandchildren, Lucas Bandy, Madeline Dotson, Kyler Brookman, Nicholas Dotson, Ariana Dotson, Noah Dotson, Amelia Dotson, Olivia Dotson and Peyton Dotson; sisters, Margarette (Ann) and husband Larry Mullins, Betty Wolford, Melissa Conklin, Peggy and husband Sonny Charles, Patricia Whitt and Connie McClanahan.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. with services at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Bradley Dee McClanahan Sr. were conducted Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Hurley and Ervin Hurley officiating, with burial following in the McClanahan family cemetery on Slate Creek, Grundy, VA.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Duty, Brady McClanahan, Bradley McClanahan, Timmy Hackney, Lucas Bandy, and Spud McClanahan.
