Ruby Lou Vance

1940 - 2025

RUBY LOU (CANTRELL) VANCE age 84 of Paynesville, West Virginia, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born March 11, 1940, in MaGoffin County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Clinton (Shorty) & Matilda (Cantrell) Cantrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Vance; two sons, Russell Brian and William Kenneth Vance; one granddaughter, Callie Lou Vance; two brothers, Ellis & William (Bill) Cantrell; three sisters, Willa Dean Vance, Virginia Ruth Cantrell, & Phyllis Ann Grubbs.
Ruby was educated in McDowell County Public Schools. She was past President of the TOPS chapter of Paynesville for many years. During TOPS and as long as her health allowed, Ruby walked several hundred miles, her exercise enjoyment. She loved couponing for many years, spending time with family, her church, playing rook, and other games with family, attending bluegrass music festivals, shopping, and local Flea Markets. She was a member of Summit Missionary Baptist Church at Paynesville.
Survivors include: two Sons, Edmond Eugene (Brenda) Vance of Paynesville, WV, and Quintin Dale (Margaret) Vance of Bluefield, VA; two Daughters, Janice (Joe) Lester of Grundy, VA, and Janet VanAuken (Tracy Bradley) of Syracuse, NY; one sister, Imogene Collins of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Kenneth Jay (Judy) Cantrell of Gibsonburg, OH; twelve Grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Elaine Vance. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Ruby Lou (Cantrell) Vance were held on Friday, January 17, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Reverend Gene Addair officiating, assisted by Deacon Daryl Barker. Burial followed in the Vance Cemetery, Paynesville, West Virginia.
The family received friends Thursday, January 16, 2025, 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a song service at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearer were the Grandsons.
The family wishes to Thank Special Care Hospice and Home Health for their care, kindness, and love shown during her illness.
