Dorothy Beatrice McGee Dorothy McGee, 92, a long time resident of Visalia, CA, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her family, on July 30th, 2014. Born May 10th, 1922 in Lawrenceburg, TN, Dorothy was the youngest of 12 children of Rutherford and Sallie Hollis. She married James Larimore McGee in Lawrenceburg, TN on August 28, 1937. They moved to Visalia in 1939 where they settled and established their family home. Dorothy worked hard all of her life in the farm fields of Tennessee and California and also as a housekeeper for Kaweah Delta District Hospital, finally retiring in 1984, yet, she still didn't slow down. She continued working small jobs for others after her formal retirement. She also loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and being surrounded by all the children. Dorothy poured her heart into her work and raising her family. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, her loving husband, Larimore, her daughter, Joyce, and her great granddaughter, Candice. She is survived by her son, Mike McGee (Kim) of Exeter, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank those special care-givers at Kaweah Delta 3 South, Westgate Convalescent, the Exeter Manor House, and Freda Tarvin, who all provided loving care to Dorothy over the last year. Viewing will be held from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday, August 3rd at Smith Family Chapel, 505 E. Pine Street, Exeter, CA. The service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 4th at the same location with burial at Visalia Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.
