Elfida Maria Hernandez, 64, of Visalia passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Visalia surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on June 22, 1952 to Manuel and Simona Hernandez. Her family moved to Goshen, California when she was a tiny child. Elfida attended elementary school in Goshen and then attended Redwood High School in Visalia. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church of Goshen. Elfida spent her life caring for her children and grandchildren and creating a loving home for her family. She enjoyed riding her bike, dancing, listening to music, shopping and sweets.
Elfida was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister.
She leaves to cherish her memory her six children; Maryana Abila, Terry Castro, Israel Abila, Seline Huertaz, Sabrina Huertaz and Angelina Hernandez, all from the Visalia area; four brothers; two sisters; 24 very special grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with two on the way.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 3 - 6 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 6 pm at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 10 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Elfida's 65th birthday. Burial will follow at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA.
