Frank Holguin Obituary

Frank G. Holguin III (Franco)

Visalia - Our beloved Frank passed away January 27, 2021 (due to COVID-19). Frank G. Holguin III (Franco) was born in Visalia, California on July 30, 1964. He was the first born of three children to Frank Holguin Jr., and Frances G. Holguin. He was the first grandchild of Francisco and Marcelina Holguin giving him just that little edge over the other 17 grandchildren that followed, and he loved having that distinction. In 1969, the family moved to San Diego when his father was assigned there by the California Highway Patrol. The family then moved to Coalinga when his father transferred to the Coalinga CHP office in 1973. The family finally returned to Visalia when his father transferred to the Visalia CHP office in 1976. Frank III began to attend Green Acres Middle School and went on to graduate from Redwood High School in 1982. Following high school Frank worked a variety of jobs until getting hired by the Tulare County Sheriff's Office in 2000. He also put in 20 years of service in the U.S. National Guard during which he deployed to the LA Riots, for the Y2K threat, and to the Ukraine for joint NATO Exercises. While serving in the National Guard he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Badge, and Fitness Instructor Badge.

Frank married his wife of 32 years, Barbara, on February 6, 1988 in Tulare. They went on to have two children, Serena and Frank (Frankie) IV. Serena blessed him with his grandchild Avery, who was the apple of his eye. Frank loved spending time with his family, taking them on trips, having backyard BBQ's and get togethers, going for drives with Barbara, building wooden furniture with his son Frankie, and spending time with his granddaughter Avery.

He was the kind of person that at first meeting, had you laughing, left you with a smile, and feeling better for having been with him. He seemed to always have a funny joke or funny story to tell that would leave you in stitches. He was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. At the holidays he would invite family and friends to his "Open House" to drop by for informal meals. There was never a dull moment around Frank. The world will have less laughter without Frank in it.

Frank was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, and his father Frank S. Holguin, Jr. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Serena Christina Holguin and partner Jose Arias of Visalia, son Frank C. Holguin, IV of Visalia, granddaughter Avery-Rose Holguin-Arias of Visalia, his mother Frances G. Holguin of Visalia, brother Victor G. Holguin and wife Gracie of Hanford, sister Yolanda G. Holguin and partner Ramon Rivas of Visalia, seven nephews and nieces, two uncles and two aunts, 17 cousins and countless friends and co-workers.

A Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel followed by a Rosary at 6:00PM. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:30AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 5049 W. Caldwell Ave, Visalia, California 93277.

Burial will follow at the Visalia District Cemetery at 12:00PM.

My condolences to you Victor and your family. I don't know Frank but I do remember his father Frank and brother Victor. At one time I was working as a medical receptionist and Frank Sr came in for a injury to his back. Getting to know him more as he would come to see the doctor, Mr. Holguin was very respectful, funny and polite. Then as years went by i got to run in to him when i had met his son Victor. Prayers for your family and mom. May God Bless you and comfort you in this time. Lisa
