Fred Smith Obituary

Fred M. Smith

Jan. 8, 1931 - Dec. 17, 2015

Visalia

Fred was born on January 8, 1931 in Stroud, Oklahoma and moved to Dinuba, CA at the age of five months. He attended grammar school in Sultana and graduated from Dinuba High School and College of the Sequoias. He was a Southern California Edison employee for 34 years, starting out in the pole yard and later becoming a lineman. He loved being outside, fishing, gardening and doing his own yardwork.

Fred loved the Lord Jesus with his whole heart and soul and next to that, his family. Surviving Fred is the love of his life and spouse of 65 years, Nettie, his children Susan Brase (Ted) and Fred, Jr. (Gary), his grandchildren Jennifer McQuisten (Joe), Melinda Spencer (Ryan), and Michael Brase (Katie). Great grandchildren include Ashley McQuisten, Leo Spencer, Travis McQuisten, Sam Burdick, Bailey Burdick, Chole Brase and Delilah Brase.

We want to thank his wonderful hospice team from Kaweah Delta. Fred appreciated their tender, loving care. Special thanks to his only grandson, Michael, his main caregiver. There aren't enough words to say how much Papa loved and appreciated you.

He also leaves behind two sisters, Dorothy and Stella, two special sisters in-law, Shirley and Joann, a very close cousin, Harry Powers, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a very special "Papa" to his grandchildren and their friends. He will be sorely missed. We love you, Papa Boo!

Nettie, I am so sorry about Fred. He was a very good man. I know that he and my Dad & uncle Joe Amancio are fishing in the Lord's favorite lake. Fred was there for my Dad in his day of suffering and brought so much comfort to him Fred will be missed.
