Gary Warren Davis Cattle Rancher Gary Warren Davis, 75, of Visalia passed away, December 8th 2013 at his home. Gary was born in Visalia to Leanore (Ragle) Davis and Tom H. Davis, Jr. on August 31, 1938. A fourth generation cattleman, Gary helped manage the ranches in Antelope Valley and Mankins Flat until his father's death in 1981. The family business began in 1853 when his great-grandfather, T. H. Davis, drove forty cows from Mexico to Woodlake to become one of the finest Black Angus herds in the area. Apart from being an observant cowman, Gary excelled at nearly everything he tried. He was a well-known welder, manufacturing pickup bumpers and cargo racks. He became accomplished working with wood, making cabinets and furniture. And at Mankins Flat, he reintroduced wild turkeys to the Kaweah watershed. An avid outdoorsman, he was also an expert marksman and a wealth of experience fine-tuning firearms and hand-loading ammunition. He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Kiteley) Davis of Visalia and his brother Tom H. Davis III of North Hollywood; his daughter Leslie (Mike) Powell of Exeter and his son Gary (Becky) W. Davis, Jr, of Elderwood. Additionally, he is survived by his step-sons Mark Curtis of Visalia and Vance Curtis of Franklinton, Lousiana; grandchildren Todd Monson, Katie Sarles, Michael Powell, Tim Davis, Roxanne Davis, Mathew Curtis, C. J. Curtis, Jacob Curtis and Kelsi Curtis, as well as two great-grandchildren Vance Curtis and William Monson. At Gary's request, no services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made to the Valley Children's Hospital or charity of choice. He will be missed.
