Hope Hernandez Leyva was born January 4, 1941 in Tulare, California to Francisco and Maria Hernandez. She lived in the Tulare community her entire life, helping to raise her 12 siblings while laboring in the fields to help support her family. She married Gilbert Sifuentes Leyva in 1959 and raised her own family of 6 children. Hope worked for Spriks in Visalia for several years as well as the Palo Verde Union School as an assistant head cook for 20 years.

Hope was very passionate about life, raising her family and helping her loved ones and others in the community. Hope's faith in God, as well as her love for the community was so important to her, she was an amazing woman. She loved music, spending time with family and traveling.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Maria Hernandez, her husband Gilbert Sifuentes Leyva Sr., her son Gilbert Hernandez Leyva Jr., brothers; Alvino Hernandez, Simon Hernandez, Barney Hernandez, Eurmino Hernandez, Rudy Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, son-in-law Timothy John Germain and grandson, Timothy Leyva Germain Jr.

She is survived by her sisters; Ruth Arroyo of Riverside, CA, Frances Miranda of Tulare, CA, her daughters; Natalie Germain of Tulare, CA, Amanda (Edwardo Hernandez) Leyva of Lexington Nebraska, sons; Danny Leyva of Tulare, CA, Daniel (Cheryl Reagen) Leyva of Visalia, CA, Johnny Leyva of Tulare, CA, grandchildren; Clayton, Kennedy, Alyssah, Hope, Larry, Sage, Penelope, Damien, Elyus, Heaven, Daniel Jr., Marissa, Mia, Isaiah, Andrew, Leilene, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing from 12:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, 132 W. Kern Ave., Tulare with a Rosary at 6:00 pm the same day at the Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. There will be a Mass at 10:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 954 S. Hope was a unique and shining spirit, taken too soon from this world. She will be truly missed by many and never forgotten. We will meet again on the other side, but until then she will be loved forever and always.
