JAYA SUBRAMANIAM Obituary
SUBRAMANIAM, Jaya
Passed away at the age of 82 on July 27 in Chennai, India. Beloved wife of the late Professor V. Subramaniam. Mourned by her son Gautam (Penny), family, friends and colleagues across five continents. Jaya was dynamic, highly accomplished and excelled in her many careers including psychologist, school teacher, librarian and dance producer and arts critic. She contributed her remarkable energy and skills to many community organizations and in her younger days was a Bharatnatyam dancer. Jaya devoted her later years to preserving and sharing her late husband's classical dance dramas based on Buddhist themes. Many thanks to the wonderful care provided by Maria and Jaya's niece Hema. Funeral Services and Cremation in Chennai on July 31. A Memorial Service will take place in Ottawa at a later date.

Jaya was a vibrant and dynamic member of our community in Ottawa. Her home was welcoming, full of love, and affection. I will always remember dressed her beautiful brilliant blue and red gold bordered sari presenting Professor Subra's dance dramas. She was like mother to me and I will really miss her. I remember fondly times with Jaya & Prof. It was fun playing roles & creating choreography for the dance dramas specially Maya. Jaya was always there critiquing and providing suggestions. Feel fortunate to have been part of Prof Subramaniam and Jaya's circle. Had been part of several productions including playing the role of Queen Maya,Sita. Draupadi. Thanks Jaya for being a vibrant person.
