Marv Weekly Obituary

Marv Weekly

Oceanside - Marv Weekly passed away Saturday, May 5th, 2018. Marv was born Marvel Clark Weekly June 29th, 1938 in Exeter California to parents Surlister Martin Weekly and Walter Weekly. The youngest of three boys, Marv grew up with his brothers Max and Marty and parents on the family farm west of Exeter. The 'three bros' have always remained very close.

Marv was an outstanding athlete excelling in football, basketball and baseball at Exeter High School. After Graduating in 1956, Marv attended College of Sequoias in Visalia, where again he was an outstanding athlete.

In 1957, Marv was a mainstay on the pitching staff, leading C.O.S. to it's one and only state baseball championship in the history of the school. In his first game of the state championship playoffs, Marv pitched a complete game shut-out against Modesto, beating them 3-0, only allowing four hits. In the finals, Marv again pitched a complete game four hitter, defeating San Diego 3-1.

After C.O.S. Marv went on to Sacramento State College where he graduated and also pitched on the baseball team.

Marv was very successful in the sales industry, spending a career as vice president of Traditional Industries, a nation-wide and Canadian Company. Later Marv created his own company, Golden Memories also a nation-wide company from which he retired to follow his loving wife Fran around golf courses and all over the globe. Together they spent a lot of time seeing what's around the bend and over the hill on a world-wide basis.

Marv was born with unlimited ambition and curiosity and had no fear of challenge. That trait was not altered in retirement. Marv went on to become a fantastic golfer and more important was a gracious host, of tremendous and humble talent. He was loved and envied by many and was more interested in helping others than himself.

Saturday, May 5th, in flight to Paris with Fran by his side and at the top of his game, Marv, ever curious, courageous and adventurous, somewhere over the Atlantic detoured to check out eternity. God Love Ya' Marv. See ya' on the other side of the river.

Marv is survived by his wife Fran, Oceanside, CA, children Bryan (Wendy) Weekly, Spokane, WA, Allyson Weekly, Seattle, WA, Jennifer (Jon) Fox, New York City, Bridget (Michael) Gutierez, Santa Cruz, CA, Jeff Hawkins, Oceanside, CA, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Brothers, Max (Barbara) Coeur D' Alene, ID, Marty (Donna), Morro Bay, CA, nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of life for Marv will be held Saturday, August 11 th, 2:00 PM at the Exeter Courthouse Gallery and Museum, 125 South B Street, Exeter.

How well I remember Marv coming to Chattanooga and Northeast Alabama to visit and work with and encourage me. So many positive things he taught me that stayed with me throughout my career and my life. What a blessing he was to me. This was in the early 70's. He made such an impression that I never forgot him. God bless all of his family and friends. I pray God's riches blessings on all who knew Marv and that know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.!! Amen
