Roy Snow Obituary

Roy & Nyra Snow Nyra Leona Snow went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the age of 79. She was born on January 16, 1935 in Porum, OK to her parents, Lloyd Irven and Lora Lasley. Roy Snow Sr. went to be with the Lord and his wife on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the age of 84, 4 days after his wife Nyra Snow passed away. He was born on August 4, 1929 in Mysterious Mountains, Ok, to his parents Charlie and Mary Snow. At the young age of 14, Nyra met Roy Snow Sr. who was 21 years old and they fell in love. Soon after they married in Tulsa, OK on November 23, 1949. They started a family of 7 children; Roy Jr., Cathy, Charlie, Steve, Leanna, Rick, and Lisa. They were married for 64 years. Nyra was a very loving mother and sister to her siblings. Along with raising her children she also helped to raise her siblings; Irven, Carl, and Delilah. They moved to Visalia area in 1955 and settled down and stayed for the next 60 years of her life. Roy was a wonderful father and provider. He accepted the responsibility of raising with Nyra her siblings without a second of hesitation. Roy was a very compassionate man. He helped anyone and everyone who needed food, shelter, or a loan to help you get back on your feet. He never met a stranger. Nyra was a very talented mother who sewed clothes for her family, and her cooking was very delicious. Everyone loved her chocolate gravy and biscuits among other great dishes she served. Nyra was a hard working woman, great work ethics and with a passion to succeed no matter what she was doing. She held down many different jobs in her lifetime. She worked at Vintage Press Restaurant for 24 yrs, and Walmart for 9 yrs just to name a few. Roy worked most of his life in his own business. He was a self-starter, hardworking, successful man. He owned and ran Roy's Iron & Metal business. He made lots of friends and did what he had to do to provide for his family. Nyra Snow will be remembered for her love of her family, her strong work ethics, her willingness to help others; her story telling of the past with lots of details was like reading a book and placing you there. She was genuinely admired, respected and loved by many. Roy Snow will be remembered for the love of his family, the compassion he had for everyone, and his wonderful sense of humor. He was always pulling pranks on us kids and he liked and collected the funny singing and dancing characters which we loved buying for him to watch him crack up laughing. He loved to make people laugh. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Nyra and Roy were preceded in death by their parents, Lloyd Irven and Lora Lasley, and Charlie and Mary Snow. Her brother Irven Lasley, sister Delilah Harlien, brother Jim Storts, his brothers Doug, Russell, Duncan and Robert Snow and his sister Marggie and their infant granddaughter Carrie Lee Snow and son Roy Snow Jr. She left behind her loving husband Roy for only 4 days, until he joined her in their journey to heaven. They leave behind their children Cathy Flud, Charlie Snow, Steve Snow, Leanna Boggs, Rick Snow and Lisa Bonnema. Son in law Tom Flud, Leonard Boggs, daughter in law Rose Snow, Teresa Snow, and Karen Brown. Nyra and Roy also leave behind 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and 1 on the way. Nyra also leaves behind her brother Carl Lasley and sister Alma Jinx. Roy also leaves behind his sisters Darlene Lasley and Betty Warren and his brothers Tex and Jessie Snow. They will be greatly missed by all. They both left wonderful memories with us, and will always be alive in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 11am at Miller Funeral Chapel. Graveside burial will follow in the Visalia Cemetery located at 1300 W. Goshen Ave. Arrangements by Miller Memorial Chapel.
