Orange Grove - Sharon Marie Schroeder of Orange Cove, California, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at age 80 on March 26, 2021.

Sharon was born on September 15, 1940 in Dinuba, California to Bruce and Frances (Kelley) Burkdoll. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University, Fresno and enjoyed a career in teaching and high school administration in Visalia, California, teaching English at Redwood High School and ultimately serving as Dean of Students at Mount Whitney High School. After losing her first husband, George Robert (Bob) Carey, she married Donald Albert (Don) Schroeder in November, 1983, and moved to the citrus and olive ranch they would develop in Orange Cove.

Sharon loved gardening, travelling, and spending time with friends, but most of all loved being with Don, her children and grandchildren at the ranch and at the family cabin at Shaver Lake, California. At the same time, she always extended a helping hand to others, and will be missed by many individuals whom she assisted through difficult times. To many, she was a role model of strength balanced with kindness. She was gracious yet direct, soft but firm, serious but lighthearted.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Don Schroeder, her three children, Julia Picher, Robert Carey, and Renee Aitelli (Peter), her grandchildren, Marcel Mendes (Erin), Alex Aitelli (Haley), and Audrey Aitelli, her sister (Charlene Golbek), and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides her loving family, she will be remembered fondly by friends too numerous to name. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Smith Mountain Cemetery, 42088 Road 100, Dinuba, California.
