Thomas Mortensen Obituary
Thomas K. Mortensen passed away after a long illness on December 20, 2020. Tom was born in Oakdale, CA, in 1945 and spent his formative years in Modesto, CA. He attended Thomas Downey High School, Modesto Junior College, and graduated from California State University, Fresno with undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminology.
Tom began his long career in law enforcement with Tulare County Probation and later transitioned to the United States Probation and Parole office, where he remained for the duration of his professional career.
His family wishes to thank all those faithful friends who visited and checked on him regularly, and also send thankful appreciation to the staff at Westgate Gardens Care Center.
At Tom's request, there will be no service or reception. A private burial will be conducted at a later date. Any remembrances can be directed to a personal favorite charity.

Tom and I enjoyed our mutual careers together with Tulare County Probation and with the United States Probation Office, Eastern District of California. Tom was one of the most admired and competent Probation Officers throughout his exemplary career. His wisdom, compassion and hard work helped some many of his clients to overcome life challenges to live a productive and law abiding lifestyle. He was a role model to me and many of his co-workers. A great loyal family man and father. I owe my career as a United States Probation to him as he was instrumental in recruiting me from Tulare County to become a U.S,.Probation Officer. Tom was always available to everyone, coworkers and clients for advice and guidance. I know he suffered alot after his illness, but I know he is now at peace and I'm sure looking down on us from heaven. A great man who touched so many lives.
