Ann DeRoma Bradley
Hanover, NH - Ann DeRoma Bradley, age 87, of Hanover, NH, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 31, 2025.
Born on March 18, 1938, Ann was the youngest child of Joseph H. DeRoma and Emeline (Wood) DeRoma. She grew up in East Walpole, MA, where she attended local schools before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons College, preparing her for a lifetime devoted to nursing and community health care.
In her senior year at Simmons, as a Resident Assistant, Ann accepted the fateful invitation from one of her students, Nancy Bradley (Priest), to meet her older brother David after he quarterbacked Dartmouth in the upcoming game against Holy Cross in Worcester. They met in the parking lot after the game, and the rest is history. Dave was the love of her life, and Ann the love of his. Hanover residents for more than six decades, they enjoyed 65 years of marriage, a love story that endured until Dave's passing earlier this year.
Devoted wife, mother, and friend to so many, Ann is survived by three sons: David Jr. (Karen), Jeffrey (Kathryn), and Christopher. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren-David III, Shane, Timothy, Emma, Dillon, Noah, and Rosa-and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Josie.
Beyond her family, Ann made countless friends throughout the years, always ready to share her unique blend of charm, wit, and compassion.
Even while helping to raise their three boys, Ann remained active and engaged in civic life, and respected for her leadership and commitment to public education. She served seven years as a Hanover and Dresden school board member, including two as Board Chair. She was also an Executive Council Member of the NH School Boards Association, serving as President in 1980-1981. She later served for a decade on the Board of Trustees of the Hitchcock Clinic, followed by years on the Board of United Way of the Upper Valley and as a Trustee of the Howe Library in Hanover.
Ann returned to the workforce in 1983, serving first as a Vermont public health nurse and then as nursing supervisor. She especially cherished her fifteen years as School Nurse Educator at the Bernice A. Ray Elementary School in Hanover, where she provided care, comfort, band-aids, and more, to hundreds of local children whom she always enjoyed seeing and hearing from after their Ray School years. In that role, she was selected as NH School Nurse of the Year, and received the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Award.
After her years as a school nurse, Ann served as Executive Director of Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting postnatal care for mothers and infants. Never one to slow down, Ann later became Parish Nurse and Pastoral Care Coordinator for the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, calling on parishioners, offering nursing and personal support to those in need.
In recent years, Ann continued her service to community health through her work with the Breast Cancer Research Project at The Dartmouth Institute of the Geisel School of Medicine.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, followed by a reception. In keeping with Ann's devotion to community health initiatives, please consider making a donation in her memory to Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley.
