Barbara Harding Obituary
Croydon, NH - Barbara J. Harding, 76 passed away May 26, 2025 at home after a 1 1/2 year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She lived every day fighting of a longer life.
She was born March 14, 1949 at home in Proctorsville, VT to Arnold and Irene (Hale) Martin. She was a graduate of Towle High School, Newport, NH.
On October 21, 1967, she married the love of her life, James C. Harding, gaining stepdaughters Vicky and Tracey and then later they welcomed daughter Wendy.
Barbara worked various Newport locations and retired from Ruger's. She was a devoted race car fan, cheering on her husband, son in law, nephews and was one of the greatest supporters of her grandson, James. She was a crocheter, loved Bingo, and casinos.
She was an excellent cook and baker. Requested dishes included donuts, pumpkin rolls, and bread pudding. She recently taught her grandson, Brenden, how to make her donuts. She often made desserts for the races and friends would come to the trailer to see what "goody" Barbara made for the week. She was always there to lend a hand to family and friends.
After retirement, Barbara and Jim enjoyed a RV trip around the country visiting friends including Florida, Kentucky, and later visited Yellowstone. They wintered in Kentucky and returned to be closer to family due to COVID.
She predeceased by her parents and sister, Ginger Shampney.
She is survived by her husband James, daughter Wendy Fadden (Brett), stepdaughters Vicky Cooper (David) and Tracey Norris (Brent); and seven grandchildren: Hillary, Ian, James (Elaina), Garrett (Jilyssa), Connor, Brenden (Alejandra) and Jenna (Travis) and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Wilbur Martin, Leo Martin Sr (Charlotte), and Helen Macedo (Russell), and many other family.
A service will be held at the Croydon Flat Church on June 22, 2025 at 3 pm with a Celebration of Life following at Croydon Volunteer Fire Station.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lake Sunapee VNA Hospice, Dana Farber Cancer Center or Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
